Those I have are 4 5/8" apart. I had to purchase different mounting screws for them as they are not perfectly aligned. It likely will also be the case for you since there is not much flexibility as far as how far I can screw in the bolts to the knocker, and the ones it came with were much longer than I needed. Once the mounting brackets were in place, it took a little measuring and fiddling to get it to look right.
In order to mount this item, the boring for the mounting holes measures 6 3/8" from center to center.
There are 4 3/4 inches in the boring of this item.
Rather than tarnishing, the RSF finish serves as a protective baked-on finish.

A gorgeous door knocker like this is hard to find. With its heavy cast iron construction and beautiful details, it is a work of art. My installation was done by a professional, so I can't comment on "ease of installation". " It was a breeze for me!" Rather than waiting a day, it came a day earlier. In terms of traditional style homes, it would be a great choice. Applied to my mahogany stained door, it looks stunning.
The door knocker is beautiful and heavy. In addition to replacing a Baldwin design knocker, I purchased this. As I looked at the old holes, I was delighted to see that they matched almost perfectly. In order to accommodate the larger screws, the holes just had to be a tiny bit bigger. When you use the knocker, the pin at the top pops out. That is the only reason I didn't give it a full-5 stars. As long as it is mostly for ornamental purposes, it will not be an issue. In the event you actually plan to use the pin regularly, you might want to consider a pin that is longer and can be bent on both ends so that it won't come.
It was challenging to adapt this to installing it on a screen door, so I took off one star. As soon as the bolts were cut, everything tightened up. It would have been helpful if it had been noted that it was made for a specific door thickness If it had been up to me, I would have found another solution. Since it has been installed, it doesn't bother me anymore.
It would have been nice if it was drilled all the way through, because the way it was set up, I had to drill it so that I could put a screw through it all. However, other than that I like it.
Due to the metal plate being so heavy, it could knock a burglar out cold. Generally, I think the design is great.
Installation was easy. A solid and durable piece with a fantastic look! I would definitely recommend this!.
The front door began to rust within a week of purchase. Despite an hour of emails back and forth, the Amazon rep was unable to come up with a solution Here we go. Her response to that is that she realizes that it's made from iron. A rage has built You're right, I get it, but unless you like rust leaking down your door, keep away from it.
Although I found the door knocker to be very attractive, it was the customer service I found most impressive. They kept me informed along The company I used to adorn my doors has definitely impressed me. I would recommend it to anyone.
