Duct tape thickness is the same as this. It appears that you can test the light-blocking ability of regular duct tape and determine if it works. However, I agree with "kevin west" in that if you only need to cover a small light, electrical tape will suffice.
I suppose it's all right. It's what I use to create my art. It's prone to tearing, so I'd assume the silver stuff is more durable if you're going to use it for mechanical purposes.
The black and adhesive separated, and the adhesive refused to stick to the tape, preventing me from cutting it.

Before I bought it, I read the reviews and saw that some people complained about the tape separating and the black part peeling off. I mistookly assumed it was a one-time occurrence; now I know better. After less than 2 hours, the black part of each of the plastic surfaces began to peel away. I was expecting a lot more from a well-known brand like Scotch. This tape is fully loaded $%@!.
Although this is clearly intended for indoor use, I'm not sure what I'd do with the rest of it. When I grab a roll of duct tape, it's usually for a job that requires a lot of force. This Scotch Duct Tape was purchased to replace the worn duct tape that connects two pieces of lightweight mats. The mats are kept in an enclosed porch that is connected to the house. It's only been a few days since I did this, and it's already pulling away from the mat. I thought I'd try it over the rips in the lightweight canvas secondary cover on my hot tub, but it bubbled up and became useless within hours. Doesn't like to be in the sun for long periods of time. Isn't a fan of the heat in the house. To put it bluntly, I'm disappointed.
It works well and is reasonably priced, but it is excessively gleaming. Like some other brands of cloth duct tape I've purchased in the past, I wanted a matte black that was unobtrusive. This stuff is gleaming and has the appearance and feel of cheap, gleaming, obnoxious plastic. br>br>So, if you want a shiny black duck tape or don't mind the fact that it shines, this is a great product. This duck tape, on the other hand, is unusable if you want matte black duck tape that blends in.
This is something I will not be purchasing again. I had a hard time locating the opening that would allow me to use the roll. The value is good, and the material is easy to tear, which is fine!.
Useless. Why won't Amazon take back this defective item a week after purchase?.
I just opened it up correctly where the end was two minutes ago, and the adhesive started tearing off of the black tape and sticking to itself. It's a jumble, and cutting or using it is difficult.
This product disappointed me because it did not adhere to an automobile dashboard that had been cleaned and free of dust and dirt before attempting to conceal a hole. Attempting to conceal a four-inch hole in a car's dash board. This tape would only be able to cover the hole for a few hours. Then it'd just start peeling away and eventually fall off. Then I tried to cover the hole by layering it a few times, but it didn't work. It would stick to itself fine, but not to the dashboard of an automobile; I tried a different brand and was successful.
It's not as thick as other duct tape I've purchased in the past, but it's a lot stickier. I originally gave this product four stars, but now I'm giving it one. I tritely peeled a piece of this tape from a round metal tube after two days. The tape shattered into two pieces. The black color faded from the sticky part, which refused to come off and continued to fall apart in pieces. That struck me as odd, so I attempted to remove a different piece. This was accomplished with the help of nine pieces of tape.
