Questions & Answers

When I have my vacuum hose replaced, I have a problem with pack rats chewing it. Can I ask the mechanic to wrap it in this tape to deter them?

Yes, and tell him to put some Trident on the table for the pack rats. It gives them pleasure to chew. Trident is recommended by four out of five pack rats for their chewing gum-chewing rat buddies.

We will use this indoors because I am extremely sensitive to odors. Is there a smell to it?

This is something I'd like to know. People who are extremely sensitive to odors will not respond to the "use some lip balm and you'll be fine" response. While this may work for some people, it can make those who are hypersensitive to chemicals and odors very sick. br>br>For someone who is chemically sensitive, it is critical to be aware of the issue ahead of time so that they can leave the premises while the product is installed and steps can be taken to eliminate the odor as quickly as possible. br>br>I've been sick for three weeks because I used a laundromat dryer (mine was broken) and the fragrance from scented fabric softener dryer sheets had built up in the machines to the point where I had to put everything I washed there in a closed room with open bowls of vinegar and an industrial air purifier running on high 24 hours a day, seven days a week - This has been going on for three weeks, and it appears that the majority of the odor will be gone soon (hopefully). Other family members are unaffected by the odor and are unaffected by it. br>br>Please keep in mind that people inquire about fragrances and scents because they are *extremely* important to them. It's fine if you're stumped - Please don't make the question or concern into a joke. If you aren't sensitive to smells, I understand how difficult it is to appreciate this. /and /or / or / or / or / or Most people are only aware of a slight odor and are able to ignore it (or, I presume, enjoy it). ) Please accept my apologies for the length of my reply - But it's important to me to help others understand that things that you might not notice can make some people very sick. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

Any product recommendations that work for sealing off air conditioners from air leaks around windows, etc.?

Tapes will leave a sticky residue, especially if it is exposed to the sun. Window Air Conditioner Insulation Strips by "Duck Brand" are available on Amazon. The unit is surrounded by foam strips. There are several sizes to choose from. Another brand to think about is "Frost King."

Is this plumber's tape, or is it something else?

"Plumbers Tape" is a type of thin metal strapping with a series of holes running through it. It's used to suspend piping from the joists beneath the floor. Wrap the plumber's tape around the pipe, bring the end up to the side of a joist, and secure the pipe with a nail or screw through the hole in the joist.

Very good quality
5/5

Non- Peel and apply with ease thanks to the sticky paper backing. Excellent quality, easy to rip off the roll by hand, and adheres to surfaces and itself with extreme tenacity; There is a layer of non-stick on the roll. Stick paper on the tape to make peeling it off easier (it would be impossible otherwise, as even accidental contact with other foil tape was difficult to undo - but it's a good indication of how long the tape's bond will hold up). br>br>NOTE: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be br>Foil tape is used in a very different way than most other types of tape. It's not meant to be used to hold things together (shear force will rip the tape). Foil tape is designed to wrap or cover wires, cables, holes or cracks in ductwork, and other non-metallic objects. It conforms extremely well to corners and joints, and is far superior to duct tape for non-metallic objects. purposes of obligation.

The greatest tape of all time
5/5

Even if the surface is slightly damp, it adheres to it. It adheres to a variety of surfaces that other tapes are unable to adhere to. It's something I use on a daily basis and in all situations. It's excellent for repairing plant stems that have been broken. It's possible that I'm suffering from a tape addiction. Ha ha.

The tape initially adhered well, but after two weeks, it came off/lifted
3/5

I do not recommend it. On the kraft paper side of fiberglass insulation batts, I used this tape to seal the seams and edges. The tape initially adhered well to both the insulation kraft paper and the wood framing. However, after two weeks, the tape began to lift/peel off in several places, allowing air leaks. With time, I believe that more of it will lift off. So if you want it to stay stuck to paper or wood, I don't recommend it.

Best Friend for a Girl I've used this tape for a variety of tasks, including stopping a leak under my sink; it sticks to wet or dry surfaces, doesn't peel or become dry and brittle like grey duct tape; and it works well to create a watertight, draft-proof seal, particularly around my air conditioner
5/5

It stays put and doesn't stretch out wherever I use it; additionally, if you seal around a drafty window in your home, you can paint over it. It's fantastic, and I enthusiastically endorse it.

I used it to tape aluminum fan ducting and it worked great! This tape is extremely simple to use and has excellent adhesion
5/5

In my attic, I used it to tape rigid and flexible aluminum ventilation tubes for bathroom fan ventilation. It easily peels away from the roll and adheres to the tubing. I was working in a small, cramped space with little room to move around. The tape's ease of use made the job much easier.

It's both practical and simple to use
5/5

This tape was purchased to seal the hoses and connections on a portable air conditioner. This is a fantastic tool that is also very simple to use. I simply removed the brown backing from the tape and applied it to the pieces that connect the hose to the unit as well as the window seam. This tape has been in place for approximately three months, during which time it has been subjected to extreme heat and rain. I haven't experienced any peeling or loss of adhesion from the tape. I'm in a good mood right now.

Air leaks in the AC/furnace unit are repaired with this material
5/5

It worked great, was simple to cut and peel off the paper backing, and was simple to work with (although, as with aluminum foil, be careful not to press too hard into a crease or it will tear or split). Gently push it with your fingernail (do not use your nail or it will tear). br>I used it to cover all the very sharp metal edges on the AC/furnace after they installed it, and it worked perfectly. It was used to completely cover a rusted vent in the basement that was leaking hot and cold air. br>Now it works well and saves money on heating and cooling.
Note: It will not adhere to any silicone caulk.

Aluminum tape that is quite good
5/5

I bought this after running out of my very expensive 3M Hot/Cold weather 4 inch roll of aluminum tape and being unable to locate it, so I used it for less critical applications. It appears to work well, with a slightly lighter gauge that is still tough enough to push into place and "mold" to the areas where it is used. I can't comment on the adhesive's temperature and water resistance just yet; only time will tell, but for 8 - 12 hours of use, it should be fine. It appears to be a good deal at $9 per (substantial) roll.
