Questions & Answers
Make a wooden matchstick out of glue. Fill the stripped hole with wood glue. Place the matchstick in the hole and wait for it to dry. Drill a new hole after flushing the matchstick with the surface. Multiple matchsticks or slivers of wood are used to make larger holes.
It's a powerful substance. It should work, in my opinion.
Why not acrylic as well? I use latex paint over it.
Do you remember how you "worked" the tube (with the lid on)? Because it separates a little from sitting, it's best to put it down). If that doesn't work, send it back for a new one. It should have the consistency of thick toothpaste.

Strong. This is some seriously tough stuff. This is what I used to fix the strike plate hole in my bedroom doorframe. As in, there was no wood at all, not even a sliver of it. Before screwing in the strike plate, I gooped this into place, finger shaped a hole as neatly as I could, and let it dry completely. The screws sank into the solidified material with ease and tightened firmly. I was able to close and lock my door once more! The true test came when my roommate's scumbag acquaintance (a complete loser with a long criminal record) had a criminal outburst and decided to vandalize my home. He tried to break through the door while I was away, warping and cracking it several times. He even bent the metal latch assembly of the doorknob, which is the part that goes into the strike plate. The strike plate, on the other hand, remained secure and anchored into the DAP Plastic Wood, which had not cracked or been damaged in any way! Wow. Is it possible that this substance is more durable than metal? Possibly. I've got real-life experience. There is no evidence in the real world to back up that hypothesis.
After reading the negative reviews, I was pretty confident in my decision to purchase this. I had no intention of feeding it to my pregnant wife or allowing it to dry out in the open. I would suggest wearing gloves and following the instructions on the tube to the letter. In the last week, I've painted over it in several areas outside the house where there is wood damage. This product appears to be working well, and I would consider purchasing it again. With inches of hard rain and temperatures over 90 degrees with hours of direct sun exposure, no visible degradation has occurred so far. However, because there isn't much in this tube, it's a bit of an expensive fix if you have a larger project to complete. It's far superior to the Lowes products I've previously used.
I needed to fill a fairly large hole (2"x2"x1") in the wall of a wood shed in the back yard, so I followed the directions, erring on the side of caution and letting it dry for a little more than two days. I was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the DAP when I drilled starter holes in it - It appears to be as solid as the wood I used to fill in the gaps. br>br>I've lost count of how many times I've bought DAP products, but their track record is good because they've never let me down.
I'm not particularly handy, so I just wanted to get that out of the way. I had a chip on the corner of my bathroom vanity and decided to give this product a try, and it was fantastic. I was able to fill in the deep part of the chip (which took two applications) as well as restore the corner's appearance. The filler was simple to use and wash away with water. Then I was brave enough to try a small chip in my kitchen's baseboard, and you can't tell where it was. This is an excellent product.
y door! Quantity and simplicity. This product has exceeded my expectations! It is simple to use and of excellent quality. I used it to fill nail holes and cracks in the wood around my front door, and it worked perfectly! Tips: br>br> If you're doing a big job, the tube can be a pain to squeeze consistently, and you can skip the putty knife entirely--it's easier to spread with your fingers and washes right off.
The door's closing clip broke, and I discovered that many attempts to fix the problem had been made over the years, leaving a large, deep hole where the snap should have been. I used this product to fill the hole quickly and easily, then waited overnight. I had a feeling (I never saw the hole) that it would be dry and ready for repair in about 2 hours, but I decided to wait. I measured, sanded the area smooth, then screwed the snap in and closed the door without difficulty the next morning. It comes as a shock to me because "handy" is the last thing that comes to mind when I think of myself. That door now opens and closes without difficulty. Liquid wood was the first time I'd heard of it. This product was purchased at random and has proven to be extremely effective.
I originally purchased this at Home Depot, but it is now available on Amazon. This has proven to be both simple to use and extremely effective. This was the filler I used for all holes, etc. when we painted the exterior of our house last summer; it's extremely strong, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
