Questions & Answers

What's the distance you need to be from the outlet on 110 volts? Does it follow the wire through a wall that has been finished. ?

To use this inductance tester, you need to touch the wire in order to sense voltage within the wire. It is mostly used to discover if a circuit is dead before working on it to avoid getting

This is like two years old and I bought it I wrote this sentence three months ago. You will no longer hear the beeping when you connect the device Does it come with a warranty?

One of my friends bought one of the detectors in December, and I love it, the only complaint is that after six months the use button (on/off) broke. Here, the Fluke is of superior quality, so good luck to you.

Do the lights in Christmas trees work with this method?

Using this tester will not provide you with any information There is voltage present, so you know there is electricity. A voltage is a difference in electric potential, while a current is actual current flow in a circuit. The voltage will be displayed on a string of Christmas tree lights if there is any.

How does this tester indicate which conductor is hot and which is neutral on a power cable?

In the case of a power cord connected to a power source, the answer is yes. There is generally a hot wire on the black wire. In this diagram, the white wire corresponds to the neutral wire. Wires of this color or bare metal are connected to Whenever you are working on a cord, you should always disconnect it from all power sources.

Having great features, it is a necessary tool but suffers from sensitivity issues
4/5

Not the fastest or most reliable, but helpful nonetheless. Firstly, I will point out that it looks really great and that the beeping isn't that annoying There are also a number of facilities there There is a placed LED light so that you can see what you are There are 3 different projects that I plan to use this for. The installation of a light fixture, the replacement of a power outlet, and the installation of a new garbage disposal. During each project, I tested this tool to see whether it would reliably identify "hot" wires, enabling me to be confident it can do its job. My understanding of this is a little hazy. I have sometimes heard it randomly beep and detect something that is not even there, as if it is not even close to a wire. This would make me wonder what happened as the power should be off but it beeped while nowhere There were no more problems when I checked everything again. Having the LED light on this one is excellent you can use it as a flashlight when looking for the wires, so this is convenient. I often wear a headlamp in dark areas, however, my headlamp was not required as much with the LED light on this tool. Once the outlet has been installed and the power is then turned on. In most cases, when the probe is placed into the socket, it does not make any sound. I have EDITED/UPDATED As I compared it with the Klein version, I found the Milwaukee probe to be a bit "fatter" or wider, so it won't fit into a socket as easily as that of the Klein. It needs to be pressed in for a bit before it starts to beep.

Conclusion This tool was great to look at and feel like, but it produced As a result of my testing, I discovered a lot of causes were probes having a wider slot and requiring more force to be inserted) and false positives. To compare it with a different brand, I would like to try another. Please edit/update this Luckily, false positives aren't very frequent, and the beeps are typically just random, so once you're used to it, you can easily tell when they are occurring. Please read the following disclosure in its entirety It is not my intention to become an electrician or handyman, I am just a home owner who purchased this product so I would not get shocked while performing some simple tasks.

The best and most reliable service Test the notch on your ring
5/5

The Milwaukee testers I buy for my electrical contracting business are the only ones I use. In order to label breaker panels, the guys spread out around the customer's home while I flip breakers until someone says "Stop" on a walkie-talkie. There's a telephone. My labeling is based on what they describe and my description is based on
Men are always going on and on and on, wasting time with unreliable, cheap testers. Another problem with an unreliable tester is that it could be fatal. By pressing the button, this tester illuminates the forward light (very convenient! Your tester is on) and it shows on your device. First, we should always check a known live plug to be sure it is measuring voltage correctly. It is standard practice for any tester to do this. Using Milwaukee testers, we ensure safety and prevent damage to water pipes and gas lines at the same time, preventing being shocked under a house.
Feel free to forget your family At the big-box store there are handyman testers Get a real Milwaukee tester instead of one from a big box store!.

Don't make assumptions
3/5

As a result of this tester, I was injured. I start by warning you that you have the potential to lose a lot of money if you trust this tool. As a replacement for my fluke that died after years of use, I purchased this one. A great start-up feature that I liked was the button that was built on top of the device and the bright light that was It has been three weeks since this tester has contacted me, and I am throwing this away after being shocked twice. During troubleshooting a 3-way switch that I was experiencing a problem with, I got hit by 120v and I figured it was a low battery. A new battery was installed. On today's lift fix, I was able to replace some 277v lights with a switchleg and an emergency circuit in the same circuit breaker. My first thought was that I had killed the emergency lighting circuit by flipping the "emergency lighting" circuit breaker, as well as the Milwaukee tool displaying no readings. As I often do, I worked everything as if the wires were hot, but my fingertip was on the metal of my dikes when I cut the I'm sure you can imagine how much it hurt. There were many bad things happening to me, but I was Fluke is the only voltage tester I will ever trust in my life. I all the time use Milwaukee voltage testers.

An LED flashlight is a really nice addition to this product, which definitely stands out as being one of the best
4/5

I have used multiple NCVTs and this one definitely stands out as being among the best. The LED flashlight is a great addition, and as far as accuracy goes, I have not had a false positive in the three years I have been using it (I have needed to replace it each year). Compared to similar products which do not even come with an LED flashlight, the battery life seems to be at least as long.
Now, since all of that has been said, there is still one recurring issue which prevents me from rating this tester as a 5 star. The problem lies with the power button on the Testers. Furthermore, the plastic used seems to be of very poor quality, which not only makes it difficult to turn on and off, but also gives it a nuisance sometimes due to the length of time you must hold it before it turns on. It takes literally one drop from a ladder of 6ft or higher for the tester to make contact with the ground with the button first, so you will have to find There will be either a destruction of the button or a deflection of the button into the tester in such a way that it will be difficult to turn the tester on and off consistently and accurately. Getting the button back to its original position will require you to remove the tester's cover. However due to the poor quality of the plastic you are either going to break off the button or you will ruin its original flexibility, making it impossible to turn on and off the tester properly. As I mentioned, other than that issue, this is really a great tester, and if you are as careful as I am, you probably wont run into this problem. Considering I am an electrician full-time, there is a huge possibility that I will drop my tools off a ladder from time to time, so it's clear that this tool won't hold up under those conditions.
