Questions & Answers

Can you tell me how close you must be to the 110-volt socket? Wires can be followed in a wall that has been painted. ?

It is mainly used to make sure the circuit is dead before you work on it to avoid being shocked by the voltage. It has to touch the wire in order to detect the voltage within the wire.

My friend and I just bought this about 2 weeks ago It has been 3 months since then. The beeper will stop beeping when you put it up to the What kind of warranty does it come with?

The only problem I had was that after six months, the use button (on / off) broke. I bought one of these in December and I loved it. It is better in this case to use a Fluke.

Would this work for lighting up Christmas trees?

You won't learn anything about current from this tester. Voltage is present, so you know that there is voltage. In electricity, voltage is described by its difference in electrical potential, while current is its flow. Using it you can know if the voltage in a Christmas tree light string is present or not.

What is the accuracy of this tester when it comes to identifying the hot and neutral conductors ?

If the power cord is connected to the power source, it is possible. A hot wire is generally a black wire. It is neutral to use the white wire. This wire is the ground wire because it's bare or green. Whenever you work on an electric cord, remove it from all sources of power.

It has great features and is a necessary tool to have, but has sensitivity issues
4/5

Quite helpful, but do not feel that it is the fastest or the As a first impression, I'd like to say that the device looks gorgeous and isn't too annoying with its beeping. The hotel has a well-stocked bar as well It comes with LED lighting that makes it easier for you to see your work. Buying this item gave me the opportunity to use it on three The installation of a light fixture, replacing a power outlet, and replacing a garbage disposal. During every project, I tested this tool to see if it could reliably identify "hot" wires so I could determine if it could be trusted. It's really hard for me to say for certain. In some cases, it has been known to randomly beep and detect something that is actually not there, while not even close to a wire. I wonder what could have caused that because the power and the sensor should be off. I would then recheck everything and it would be quiet again. The LED light on this is wonderful, you can use it as a flashlight while looking for the wires so it is extremely beneficial in that way. I often wear a headlamp when working in darker areas, but I did not need it as often with this tool. - Make sure the power outlet is installed and the power has been turned on. It is usually impossible for the probe to beep when it is inserted into the socket. ** Editing/Updating When I compared it with the Klein version, I learned that the milwaukee probe is a bit "fatter" or wider than the Klein, so it will not fit into a socket as easily as the Klein version. Until the cable gets jammed into the right spot, it beeps every time.

Conclusion I like its appearance and feel, however, it gave a lot of false negative results I discovered that many false positives were caused by the probe being too wide and requiring too much force to jam into a socket) and false positives during my tests were caused by the wider probe. To compare a different brand to the one I'm currently using, I would like to try another brand of paper. ** Editor's note/update As soon as you are used to it, it is easy to tell when there is a false positive since the false positives are usually just single random beeps. I hereby give you my full disclosure It is not my intention to be an electrician or handyman, just a home owner who purchased this product to prevent being shocked without worrying about getting hurt during some simple home projects.

Providing reliable and excellent service This notch tester checks for notch defects
5/5

It's the only tester I use in my business as an electrical contracting company. While labeling breakers, the guys spread out throughout the customer's home, and I flip the breakers until someone says "Stop" over the walkie-talkie. A talking device. It's their job to describe the problem and I help to determine where the fault originated. Effort is wasted by cheap and unreliable testers who switch on and off repeatedly. Another consideration is the fact that a faulty tester may even cause death. This tester has a forward light that turns on when you push the button (plenty of convenience! you're in test mode. Before removing any plug, always check that it is measuring voltage on a known, live plug. It is standard practice for any tester to do this. In our office, we use the Milwaukee tests to see if water lines or gas lines are in good shape, as this helps prevent being shocked under the house. You can forget your home - Testing by handymen at the big companies Don't waste your time at big-box stores, get yourself a.

Warning Be careful
3/5

As a result of this tester, I was injured. The first thing I want to stress is that you might lose a lot of money if you use this tool. Using this in place of a fluke that died after years in use was worth the investment. One of my favorite features of the beginning was the button located at the top and the bright light built right My disappointment is that I am wasting this after being shocked twice in three weeks and not receiving a response from the I figured the first one was on me, and when troubleshooting a three-way switch I got hit by 120 volts, so I thought the batteries were low. Battery replacements have been performed. Earlier today, I worked on a lift where I had to replace some 277v lights in the same jboxes with switchleg and emergency circuits. My first thought was that I had killed the emergency lighting circuit as well as the Milwaukee tool read nothing by flipping the "emergency lighting" circuit breaker. The hot wire of the emergency circuit was a few inches from my fingertip when I cut it. I am used to working things like they're hot, but my finger was on the metal of the dikes when I cut it. It hurt, as you can imagine. I was extremely lucky, since things could have been a lot worse. From now on, I will only trust the Fluke voltage tester over the Milwaukee voltage tester.

I think the LED flashlight is a really nice addition
4/5

It makes this one stand out from the rest. It has been my experience that this one is one of the best NCVTs. The LED flashlight is a really nice addition, and it is accurate, I have had zero false positives in the three years I have been using it (although I have had to replace it each year). There is no LED flashlight included on this product, but the battery life appears to match similar products. In all the above, there's one thing I want to point out that prevents me from giving this tester a five-star review. The problem is with the power button on the Testers. Additionally, the durability of the plastic used appears to be poor, as it does not only take a long time to switch it on or off but it sometimes becomes a nuisance, because you have to hold it for such a long period of time. You're probably going to be looking for another tester after this tester falls from a ladder. If the button makes contact with the ground first then this tester hits the ground with the button first. This allows the tester to never turn on and off consistently or accurately because either the button will be destroyed or it will be pushed into the tester in such a way that it is impossible to turn it on and off correctly. You'll have to remove the tester's cover and try to bend the square plastic button back to its original position, but, due to poor quality plastic, you risk either breaking off the button or damaging the plastics original flexibility, causing more problems with turning on and off the tester. Other than that one issue, I think this is actually a pretty good tester and if you're more careful than I was, you are unlikely to run into it. Currently, I work as an electrician full time, so chances are my tools are going to fall off a ladder here and there, and I know this tool won't stand up to that.
