that we have been sitting on an open ground for 33 years and hadn't even known about Gardner Bender® GK-102 was actually purchased by me Buying an APC® surge protector with a battery backup will get you 5 sets A report we picked up off Amazon showed we had a 'building wiring fault' at the back of our home (the red light at the back). Since I had no idea what that meant, I researched and discovered that the most common reason for that type of indicator is an open ground, so I decided to order this tester set, in addition to the yellow Sperry® brand outlet tester, to basically get a 'second opinion. After I received both products, I went around our house and discovered that our GCFI circuit did indeed show an open ground in all outlets. Additionally, the GCFI outlet in our master bathroom and the garage outlet all provide protection to two more bathrooms, the patio outlet, and the master bedroom. Due to the fact that we would need to go through and check all of our 33-year-old outlets and switches, we decided to switch them all over to Leviton®, especially the outlets that could withstand tampering. In this set, we used the live wire tester to verify the circuit was off, and then shut off the circuit and proceeded to the next step to prepare the material for use (from ivory to white). We found no open or disconnected ground in any of the dozen or so outlets and switches on the GCFI circuit, but both outlet testers showed we still had an open ground after re-switching the circuit. The yellow light has been turned on twice! The open ground is now gone, but just to make sure it was right, I tested an outlet in another bathroom with a yellow Sperry® outlet tester. The yellow light has been turned on twice! In addition, I have used the battery tester and USB tester included in this set and they are both excellent, too! The battery tester confirmed that some of the AA batteries we thought were dead were actually still good. We didn't have to throw away good batteries as a result.
Users will have a simple time using these testers as they function properly. It has the same price as the voltage and circuit tester when purchased individually, but with the bonus of the free battery and USB tester. I do not have high hopes for the value of the latter two units, but the fact that they are free is an appealing factor. I have only one complaint, which is that the weight and quality are lacking which makes me doubt the final durability. When I use them occasionally at home, I am happy with them, but if I were using them professionally or on a regular basis I would choose a unit that is heavier constructed.
Isn't working the way I expected it to. Voltage sensors that do not contact the ground go Tests done on the same item produce different results each time. The responsive tester fails to work, and the GFCI tester fails to trip. I wanted to test the gfci of an outlet that trips immediately without anything connected. The test said the outlet was correct for the split second before it tripped the gfci.
The item I purchased was to replace an electrical outlet I have been having trouble with. I'm not an electrician, so I needed the item for that purpose. As a safety measure, I plugged the outlet into another one to ensure there wasn't any electricity flowing through it. I think it was effective for what it was intended for.
I love this set of electrical testers so much. The things they make life easier are wonderful. The problem becomes more pronounced when you're trying to figure out which outlet is controlled by which breaker. This is a highly recommended product.
The set is well worth it, it is easy to use and easy to maintain.
Overall, a very nice purchase with a very good price. Welcome to the club. The situation is good for me.
