How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
Clamp meter with TRMS (true mean squared) technology that ranges automatically for improved accuracy.
AC/DC voltage, resistance, continuity, frequency, and capacitance are all measured with test leads, as are diodes.
Temperature is measured by using a thermocouple probe.
For detecting and eliminating ghost or stray voltages, use the Low Impedance (LoZ) mode.
Class 2, double insulation safety rating, CAT IV 600V, CAT III 1000V
It's made to take a 6. Drop of 6 feet (2 meters)
Low battery warning and a battery compartment that is easily accessible

Questions & Answers

Is this meter capable of measuring run/start capacitors in HVAC applications?

Yes, both this meter and the Fluke 324 measure capacitance, but the Fluke 324 does not measure the maximum or starting amperage of an air conditioning compressor, as this meter does. The Fluke 325 has this capability, but it costs nearly $300.

What is the smallest DC current that this device can detect? 5 mA or less?

I regret to inform you that this is not the case. The instruction manual states that in the lowest DC current range (60. 00A) has a 10mA resolution. The precision is /- 0 8 digits).

Can these be used to test circuits with three phases? Thanks?

Yes, it can do it, but I don't trust it because of the voltage jumps that occur when it is lightly tapped.

What country does it come from?

Klein's electronics have unfortunately been outsourced. China produces the multimeters. The vast majority of hand tools are still manufactured in the United States of America. For distribution in the United States, they have been tested and approved by ETI. Klein, on the other hand, has left me cold.

Amazon isn't an authorized vendor, according to Klein Tools
3/5

I didn't use my CL800 for several months after receiving it, and now when I try to use it, it produces a solid tone when I select the Voltage setting. I can silence the tone by selecting another option, but the tone returns as soon as I press a button. I've contacted Klein Tools tech support five times in the last month in an attempt to resolve the issue. I was told that someone would call me back each time, but that never happened until today. Chuck, the CL800's tech support guy, kept talking over me and trying to explain the concept of Amazon vendors, which I didn't need to be told about. He was dismissive of the general public and had no business communicating with them. Even after I explained that it was like this right out of the box, he tried to blame the problem on me. After that, he had Kathy (Cathy?). ) called me back from customer service and informed me that while Amazon is not an authorized vendor for their products, they stand behind them and would do me a favor by honoring the warranty with my Amazon invoice. Now, I have to ship the tool back to the company (at my expense), and they'll send me a new meter at no charge at some point (she couldn't say when). I've purchased several Klein products in the past, but I've never had to deal with their tech/customer support, and after my experience with them, I'll never purchase another of their products.

The company, which is based in China, promotes its products as being manufactured in the United States
3/5

Well, I'll probably return it because I paid twice as much for it as a similar clamp multimeter just because Klein tools are made in the United States. br>All I know is that the package says it's made in China. Is this a knockoff or a genuine Klein tool? br>Amazon or Klein Tools: who gets a bad review?.

KLEIN'S 2 YEAR WARRANTY IS VOID IF YOU ORDER FROM AMAZON
4/5

This cannot be allowed to continue! What a colossal squandering of resources. It was bought in February and is already malfunctioning. If I had known that purchasing a product through Amazon's warranty voids Klein's warranty, I would not have purchased it. I would have never bought anything from Amazon if it hadn't been for the fact that it was so convenient NEW REVIEW! br>br> Over the summer, the wonderful seller replaced the part, but it broke again in December of 2019. Klein advised going to one of their dealers, who would replace the item. It went off without a hitch at Home Depot.

The accuracy of the thermometer is only rated at -
3/5

1% plus 5 is a mathematical expression for a percentage that is greater than one percent. Between 33 and 752 degrees Fahrenheit, there is a temperature difference of 4 degrees. I purchased this meter in order to conduct a thorough superheat refrigerant test on my home's HVAC system. I compared the temperature reading on this Klein meter to four other thermometers I had, as well as the crushed ice water calibration test, and discovered that it was off by about 7 degrees Fahrenheit at 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, depending on how you inserted the K-, you may have to repeat the process. The readings differed by 5 degrees using a type adapter. That is far too much information for practical purposes. Because this was a deal-breaker, I didn't test the meter's other functions. For me, this is a death sentence.

For an electrician, this is extremely useful
4/5

I've previously owned three CL2200s, which are similar to this. One was stolen, one was misplaced, and one of my dogs was abducted. This one has a few more options, such as temperature, that I haven't tried yet. br>br>The only drawback is that it lacks a built-in magnet; however, they sell one that attaches to it and can be used in a variety of ways, which I bought and keep attached because I use the magnetic hanger almost every time I use the device; however, the hanger is frequently in the way but can be dealt with. It's something I wouldn't be without. br>br>The main reason I bought this model was because of the LoZ function. I frequently need to determine whether the voltage I'm seeing is real or phantom, and this helps me do so. The old Klein or Square D solonoid wiggy, on the other hand, will do it faster and with greater precision than this one. It has a highly usable light that is simple to turn on, as well as AC and DC volts/amps, as well as mini volts and mini amps. Also included are all of the other features mentioned in the advertisement, such as continuity, diode, capacitance, temperature, and resistance ohms. br>br>Very useful, well-built tool that performs as well as or better than most Fluke products at a fraction of the cost.

Pros: Excellent value for money
4/5

br>At the touch of a button, you can turn on an illuminated display and a small work light. When testing hazardous power levels, the ability to hold one probe within the unit reduces awkward positions. Design that is easy to use.
Cons: br>Continuity isn't always reliable (though this is uncommon). If you're expecting a beep, make sure to test the unit by touching the probes together. If you don't hear a beep, power cycle the meter (this usually solves the problem for me). Only this model has this problem, as I discovered after borrowing Klein multimeters from my coworkers. br>To summarize: As a commercial and light industrial electrician, I rely on this meter on a daily basis. Does everything I need it to, and the advantages I mentioned are great for working above ceiling or testing in small spaces (motor control centers, switch gears, transformers, and so on). If I misplaced this multimeter, I would buy it again.

I had been using Fluke meters for years and loved them, but the price was not appealing to me
4/5

These are well-made and have features found in meters costing several times as much; the extra cost for the CL800 is small and well worth the extra features I don't use very often (such as K-metering). temp type). The LED light should have been brighter, and it should have had its own switch (the back-up light has the same switch). light). The magnet attachment is also useful, but it is not included in the package. The meter's weak spot is the leads. I prefer extra-durable leads and plan to replace them once or twice a year. Having said that, I'm a tough critic when it comes to tools and equipment, and I believe this one will last a long time.
