Klein Tools CL220 Digital Clamp Meter, Auto-Ranging 400 Amp AC, AC/DC Voltage, TRMS, Resistance, Continuity, NCVT Detection, and Temp

A friend recommended this particular meter because it is the only one that will reliably give an accurate reading on a ground or neutral wire, despite the fact that I have three other amp meters, all from reputable manufacturers and not cheapos. None of them will be able to read as precisely as this machine. br>br>When I first got it, I put it to the test against two of my other meters at home, and then at a local factory where I work. All of the hot wires have the same reading. The other two I have would read 0 or a very low reading when connected to a neutral or ground. This would display a more realistic and higher figure. For instance, the hot sides of a 240 volt single phase 5 HP motor that was running at approximately 60% load read 16. Every meter reads 7 amps. The natural on two of them, however, revealed 1. 2 and 2. a total of four The Kline meter read 9 on this occasion. It was a seven, which was exactly what it should have been.

I expected to be able to use it on my home electrical panel as well as car batteries and other devices, but this device cannot read DC current. I wish I had read the description more carefully, but I assumed that any meter nowadays could do both. Because it can measure both DC and AC voltages, it's particularly useful.

I'd heard good things about Klein tools, and I've used them for years, so I decided to give their meter/amp probe a try. It has exceeded my expectations, and I have no complaints about it or the seller. Anyone in need of a new meter should consider this one.

I bought this to replace a cheap meter I'd had for a long time, and I really like the auto ranging feature. This meter will perform all of the tasks that my limited abilities allow me to perform, and it will do so with confidence.

This isn't the cheapest option, but it performs admirably and has a high build quality. It has a nice shape.

Other brands are less expensive, but I went with a brand name when it came to tools that deal with electricity. The build quality of the unit is excellent, and it does not feel cheap.
