Selected User Reviews For Fluke 1587 Insulation Multimeter, LCD Display, 2 Gigaohms Insulation Resistance, Up to 1000V Insulation Test Voltage
I bought this unit to use for my job. We used it as a training tool for a short time until I realized it always displayed 550 mega ohms at 528 VDC regardless of the motor it was testing. I decided that that could not be a good reading, so I switched out the leads, checked for continuity to make sure the leads were good, and tested it across a piece of wire (essentially a dead short) and sure enough The thing had only been with me a couple months and I was pretty frustrated about the situation so I called Fluke who couldn't imagine there was an issue but I told them that my reading was way too short and they let me send it in for evaluation for an additional Having watched some YouTube videos on the device before using it, I realized many others were getting the same 550 mega ohm reading as me and was unable to figure out what was going on. After I returned it, I mentioned to them that they might have received the same messed up megger as I did and would like it returned. I believe that this unit is not up to the company's standards. Testing it immediately upon receipt is recommended, but ultimately, when you pay a high price for a meter, you shouldn't have to worry about getting one that's too inaccurate. It looks like the meter is obviously not worth the money based on what I have seen. This may be the fluke of the century, but it's a failure.
The report has been updated. I will use it in my automotive course (I serve as the professor and As I had contacted Fluke, I learned that I would need to measure the resistance of the lead and calculate the difference when measuring the In this case we will look for a reading It seems like a bit much for a $700 meter to have 05 ohms. Using a meter without a zero function for the first time in a long time. Except for that, everything else is fine. My review has been changed to a 5 due to further communication between Fluke and I. The company was quite helpful and we came to a resolution that satisfied me. Despite the meter's non-zeroing function, it is otherwise very useful.
This feature allows you to see the meter's readings remotely and sync your phone to the device, which is a big time saver since you don't have to wait for someone to operate the system when you are watching.
It is no secret that Fluke has always been considered one of the prime testing and measurement companies in the electrical industry, and this Megger is no exception. Especially useful in heavy industry, this should be a must-have for any electrician looking for troubleshooting solutions. There is only one complaint I have about this meter. It costs over $600, it should come with a magnetic hanging strap.
Taking it to the next level. Fluke offers quality you can count on. The voltage levels can be selected and it is extremely simple to operate. When it comes to troubleshooting electrical issues on fighter jets, I use this professional tool. There is a reason why the price is so high.
A meter like this is just what I need. My job is to supervise electrical work at an industrial facility, where the megging function is frequently used. Team members use the Fluke 375 to read amps, a very accurate reading device.
The fluke was very nice. It is nice that the meter comes with the program. It has a little bit of a large size, but I don't mind it. You will be able to use You can get the kit that comes with an adapter for reading amps for a few dollars more.
I love it! Since it takes a little while to get used to changing lead connections between settings, I still use my 1187 in tandem when I am in a hurry. There is however, a big advantage to having a megameter and all the functionality that comes with the 1187. Once again, getting used to reconfigure the leads depending on the settings. I like it a lot!.
