Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
Motion is detected by a passive infrared (PIR) sensor, which turns the lights on and off automatically.
An automatic ambient light level sensing technology that remembers your on/off behaviors to turn your lights on at the brightness level you prefer.
Installation is simplified thanks to the universal wiring design, which includes interchangeable hot and load wires.
Fixed time delays: 15 sec (Test), 5 min, 10 min, 20 min, 30 min; adjustable range. Occupancy sensor mode (Auto ON, Auto OFF) and vacancy sensor mode (Manual ON, Auto OFF) allow you to customize the sensor according to your needs.
5A, 120VAC, 1500W incandescent/halogen, 360W CFL/LED, 1/6HP motor; operating temperature (32 – 104°F); single-pole only; CA Title 20

Questions & Answers

What is the purpose of the "Light" adjustment dial? Is this a dimmer adjustment for the fixture that's connected?

If the ambient light level is higher than the set level, the light setting can be used to prevent the switch from turning on. For example, if you use this switch on a patio or lanai and only want the motion to turn on a light when it's dark outside, you'd turn it all the way up and then gradually back down until the light comes on at the desired ambient light level.

Is the switch a satin/matte black or a glossy black?

It's more of a satin/matte black look.

Is it feasible to use two-person teams? Is there a way to change the direction?

I'm not sure what I'm saying. It's on a single switch, and it works perfectly.

It performs admirably, but there is one significant flaw that some users may find objectionable
3/5

This product performs as expected for the most part, but it does have one major flaw that isn't mentioned in the description. When you set the timer for how long you want the switch to be on, it works as expected, and once the timer has expired and the lights have turned off, it will quickly turn back on if it detects movement. If you manually turn off the switch, it will not turn back on until the timer has run out. To put it another way, the timer works when the lights are turned on as they should, but it also works when they are turned off manually. This means that if you set the timer for 20 minutes and then manually turn off the lights, the lights will not turn back on until the timer has run out. During this time, manually turning on the lights is the only way to get them to work. The lights will turn on as expected after the 20-minute period has passed without any motion being detected. This does not work for me because I require the lights to turn on whenever movement is detected, whether they were turned off automatically or manually. What's strange is that this behavior was not present in previous TopGreener occupancy sensors I purchased, implying that it's a recent change. Unfortunately, this does not suit my needs, so I will be replacing the sensors with another brand.

I took two of these out first (I installed) when I moved out of my rental, and I'm not leaving them behind
5/5

I moved from Florida to Texas and needed these two, so I now have four. This is fantastic. I have them in bathrooms with both a light and a fan, as well as in a kitchen pantry where they were always left on. These are ideal for the bathroom, particularly if someone is constantly asking, "Did you turn off the fan?" Because then others (kids) learn to leave the fan off the entire time, steamy walls are the least of their problems, and when I walked in behind one of those boys, the fan was almost permanently wired ON. But these are fantastic; they never need to be touched, they turn on the lights and the fan when you walk in, and they turn off 5 or 7 minutes later. There will be no yelling about the fan being left on, and fumes, as well as steam, will be expelled. They're adjustable, and once you've got them set, you won't have to think about them because they just work. I had no problems with two in Florida for a year, and now I have those two plus these two, all of which are in perfect condition. Some claim to draw power simply by sitting off; if this is true, I don't care for their benefit, and it would have to be pennies a month, at the very least. Also, I'm a huge Z-person. I'm a Wave user with 16 wall switches and about 4 dimmer plug switches, but I still use these.

This is by far the best motion switch I've ever encountered
5/5

This is one of the most effective motion detector switches I've ever used. It performs far better than the majority of the others I've tried. They also printed what each wire was for on the back of the plastic, so you didn't have to look at the installation port to remember. Despite the fact that my home didn't match the colors, I was able to get it installed on the first try thanks to a lucky guess. I couldn't tell what was what because all of the wires in my wall were painted white. However, I did use a thermometer to determine whether or not something was hot. br>br>This thing has a great motion and timer. I have one of these in my master closet, where the switch is in a difficult-to-reach location. The detector turns on as soon as I get within 90 degrees of it. In addition, I set the timer for about a minute and a half, and the light never turns off too soon. Even with the range turned all the way up, the motion on this is fantastic for catching even the tiniest of movements. br>br>This is, without a doubt, the best motion switch I've ever used.

These are effective, but before tampering with electricity, make sure you know what you're doing
5/5

These work great as both vacancy and occupancy switches (which is what we ended up doing with them) - Not only do we no longer have to be concerned about our children leaving the bathroom light on, but it also turns on automatically when we enter: )br>br>One oddity to be aware of is that if you turn the lights off manually in occupancy mode, it will still count down the time you set (we have it set to 10 minutes) before allowing the occupancy sensor to turn the light back on automatically. I don't think it's a problem (you can always click the switch to manually turn it on, even in occupancy mode, and if the inconsistency bothers you - just turn it off). Set it to vacancy mode and manually turn the light on)br>br>Installing these is not easy, and please do not ignore the requirement for a neutral wire! If you don't know how to check for a neutral wire in your existing junction box, stay safe and hire an electrician to do it for you. br>br>You'll almost certainly need to use a non-alcoholic beverage. In this installation, you'll also need to know which of the wires going into your old switch is the "live" and which is the "load" (and unless this is super obvious based on the directions wires are coming into the junction box, you'll have to turn the electricity on with the wires accessible and use that tester to identify it - Again, if this sounds scary to you, DON'T DO IT; hire someone who knows what they're doing. )br>br>Replacing an old switch with this one takes no more than 10 minutes once I figure out which of the four wires is which.

Buyer beware, 3x are dead and won't work in a 2 gang with a fan connected to it
3/5

It's total nonsense. This is the second set that has been ordered after the first failed after only a week. The second unit in the two-pack was already dead when it arrived. The next two-pack replacement arrived, but it would only turn on when the adjacent bathroom vent fan switch was turned off. This light switch is turned off when the fan switch is turned on. It couldn't be turned on because the fan in the adjacent switch box (2 gang installation) was running. They are both properly wired, and the switch does have a NEUTRAL wire, a separate ground, and Line wires. It works great to replace the motion switch with a different brand. I would not recommend this brand, and as other reviews have stated, their customer service simply yells at the customer and lies about it, claiming that they did not wire neutral when they said they did. Junk! No, it is not my wiring because I am familiar with electricity and have lived in houses that have been wired. On the first set, I gave the manufacturer the benefit of the doubt, but on the second set, no free passes. Be careful who you buy from. It appears that their quality control has been compromised (is Covid19 to blame?).
