Questions & Answers

What is the use of this timer with broan electric wall heaters that are 120 volts?

It counts as a This timer switch can reduce the load up to 20 amps when used with resistive or inductive loads. It is generally a resistance-based heater that is used as a ceiling heater A heater of this type As long as your Broan model is rated at 20 amps or less, it is likely to work.

Would this work with a fan that needs only 13W of power to run?

In the controller, John pointed out that there is an electro-mechanical motion sensor If you need to control a light load, a mechanical relay is your best option. There is no guarantee the contacts will be gold plated, so you may find yourself dealing with long-term issues There are a number of approaches to address this problem, but wiping contacts and driving loads at higher voltage should do the trick. These relays have been used for light loads at 120 VAC (23 watts), and I have never suffered from a relay buzz You will be all right, I think. As it stands, you don't have a lot of choices without modifying the product or building your own.

One that is white would be great. There is no way to specify the specific color on Amazon! ?

The same thing occurred to me as well when I opened mine Aside from its color options, there are also three different buttons (faceplates) to choose from, which is interesting.

What if I wanted to control the fan and light in the bathroom with this timer? You should be able to turn on the fan and light fixture when you flip the There are 2 - wavelengths of light It is standard to have a bathroom fan with 60W bulbs. ?

It is absolutely true It's exactly for that purpose that I use this timer switch.

It was LOVE at first sight until the buzz began
3/5

I urge you not to buy it! In addition, My favorite part of these timer switches was that they controlled our bathroom fans. They didn't start BUZZING until they started going crazy! It has been less than 3 years since we built a new house, and all 5 times there have been buzzing sounds, some louder than others, but they are all I am so disappointed since these timers are easy to use and allow us to switch on the bathroom exhaust fan and leave. However, the BUZZING is a deal breaker for both of The timer switches you see in the store are NOT worth buying.

The best countdown timers you should consider buying if you want to throw a lot of money away
3/5

Look for another countdown timer if you need a reliable one. The bathroom fans in our vacation rental are controlled by three of these devices. The majority of them don't get used as much as they would in a typical home when renting out a vacation rental. As a result of the infamous buzzing sound made by the relay, I have replaced every single switch in the last 2 years. It buzzed today when one of the replacements was installed. Having reached this point, I have given up on the Leviton countdown timers and will replace them with another brand. Leviton, please address this issue as soon as possible.

The buzz would not be present if not for it
3/5

Connecting these switches to bathroom fans, as well as a variety of other items, makes a lot of sense. In the past six years, I have bought six of these units for use with bathroom fans, fan/light combinations, and ceiling heaters. For those who do not feel comfortable installing electrical wiring themselves, they should hire someone who knows how to do it or have an electrician do it. Three of six purchased have already buzzed, that others have talked about. I would rate these products five stars if they were not for that. Getting 50% of the way there is a big failure. Other users have stated that the switch will not start a fire, but that it increases in volume over time. Fortunately, someone posted a suggestion to fix it. Place a magnet behind the switch and you should not have any problems. If the switch is covered under warranty, it is probably less difficult to repair than to replace it with an entirely new switch. Take some ceramic 1" disc magnets (I like the Magnet Source brand) and some superglue. Per buzzing switch, you will need a magnet. The magnet should be moved to a quieter area back behind the switch to eliminate Depending on where the magnet is placed, you might have to flip it. Once the magnet has been glued to the back of the switch, put the switch back together. Once the switch has dried, reinstall it and the problem should be This magnet appears to work since it eliminates the buzzing. I do not know why it does so, but it does. (A picture of this fix can be found here. provided information on this easy fix, I would have rated it.

You've got to be careful now that it's using no relays
3/5

Transformers and motors can no longer be connected to it. Two factors prevent it from becoming a great product. It has a great user interface, but it is vitally flawed, now. Many of these have failed to work for me since I owned them and used them. A lot of them start buzzing and may never turn on the load. A filter capacitor can be found inside, which you can replace if you've got It is not necessary to fix them, but why should you? Does Leviton have a problem buying capacitors of a good quality? In spite of this, Leviton has taken the product even further with the lower quality description. The old product worked perfectly with motors, so the new one is the same thing as the old one. An example from the instruction sheet is as follows In order to prevent overheating and damage to this device and other equipment, do not use it to control a receptacle, fluorescent lighting, a motor, or anything powered by a transformer. In addition, you can bet that this is unsafe for use with LED lighting as well. So a bad capacitor isn't all they're doing now to reduce costs, a mechanical relay has been replaced with an electronic switch that may be able to support only a few In how many of our homes do we still use incandescent bulbs? We have to give Leviton a big "BOO" for ruining a good product. *Amazon, please correct the description, so that references to controlling fans and motors are removed, and you clarify the carefully limited set of loads you can control now. It is now possible to cause a fire by using this device with inductive loads, such as a transformer.

It's buzzer time again
3/5

I started buzzing after about three years too, just like others here. This product seems to have a nice look and is easy to use, and if I had a problem with it I would In case it was faulty, I would simply replace it with a new one. Yet since so many other people here have experienced the same issue, I suspect that there just is a problem with the product. The Leviton timer is not working, so I am going to look at alternatives. It goes without saying that I have two more in my house, and now expect them all to have the problem. This Leviton timer is very disappointing, especially since they usually make good quality electrical appliances. We will definitely not buy this product.

The product is excellent, the timer is great
5/5

The timer switch is used for timer purposes. As such, it appears to work very well and to use the timing function accurately. This was after the 80th time that I walked past the kid's bathroom with the fan running for probably hours pumping air conditioning back into the wild. It has helped and it will continue to help. My teenager should probably not learn the ideals of hitting it and forgetting it. There is one complaint I have, and that is the size. If you are installing an electrical box, you need a deep one. All the connections are wire nuts there are no threaded lugs. The switch itself is larger than most switches, and all the wire nuts take up a large amount of space.

Having the bathroom fans on a timer has always been my dream
5/5

Recently, I made the decision to change all the switches for the bathroom fans with timers after I was forced to replace a Broan bathroom fan motor. My dream has been to do something like that for a long time, but I never liked the dial This switch is nice in that you can control the fan with four lengths of time. According to the instructions, you can change the timings, but then it wouldn't match what is written on the switch cover, so I recommend getting the one you intend to use right away. A button that turns the blower off only deactivates the selected blower timer, so it cannot be left on continuously when not in use. In addition to the off switch, each button has a little light next to it that glows green. I found the connections to be relatively As all of my switches switched the black wire, the trick was to swap the black and red wires on the switch between the two black wires from the old switch if it did not work. In the beginning I was not clear on why I had to connect the white wire on the switch to the white wire on the house wiring, but I later discovered that the small led lights would be powered by this wire. I have liked them so far. It is my hope that they will.
