Questions & Answers

Is it possible to install the switch face into a standard gang face plate? I'd like to put this in an existing two-gang faceplate, but I'm worried it won't fit. ?

It fits. A flange was mentioned by one of the other respondents. I think he's talking about a detachable part. Its purpose is to provide a surface / clips to which the supplied screwless faceplate can be attached. The mounting surface isn't necessary if you're not going to use the faceplate that comes with it. It'll be fine if you just remove it; I have several of these in 2 and 4-hole configurations. Boxes for gangs.

Is it possible to control three lights in one fixture with this? Is it true that only one reviewer disagrees?

I'm not sure what that reviewer is talking about, and their assessment is incorrect. This dimmer is capable of dimming three or more lights in a single fixture. On the same circuit, I have one that controls six LED lights on one fixture and another that controls two pendant lights.

Is it possible to control the outlets separately? Or do they both turn on and off at the same time?

In the Kasa app, they each have their own control.

In the Internet of Things community, Link is a reputable brand
5/5

My Google Mesh home network is home to more than 50 smart WiFi devices. The total number of TP- The network's Link smart devices work without a hitch and are dependable. TP-Kasa is a combination of Kasa and TP. WiFi two-way link (KP200) inlet, outlet This includes wall receptacles. The KP200 works well and is simple to install (neutral white wire required! ), IF it is installed correctly (see below). br>br>WARNING TO AMATEUR ELECTRICIANS (such as myself): br>br>Although I am not an electrician, I have personally replaced the majority of the wall switches and receptacles in my home with no problems. Ceiling fans, light fixtures, and bathroom exhaust fans have all been replaced as well. I was confident that installing the KP200 would be a piece of cake as well. However, when installing the KP200, I got a little ahead of myself, and it took an EXPENSIVE visit from a licensed electrician to get everything back in working order. br>br>I learned that in Arizona (and most likely other states), any WALL RECEPTACLE (outlet) within 15 feet of running water (such as a kitchen sink or bathroom sink/tub/shower) must be a ground-level outlet. GFCI (fault circuit interrupter) is a type of circuit interrupter that protects against power This is also referred to as a "GFI outlet. " "br>br>In my "open concept" kitchen area, there are eight wall receptacles (none of which are labeled "GFCI" or have the standard GFI test/reset buttons); As a result, I was completely unaware that they were gluten-free. A "pantry" is located approximately 14 feet from my kitchen sink. It's far enough away from the kitchen sink that there won't be any water splashing. There are two above-the-counter refrigerators in the pantry. UNMARKED GFCI receptacles on the counter wall (as I later discovered). br>br>As a result, everything went to hell in a handbasket when I replaced one of the UNMARKED GFCI outlets with the KP200. The KP200 wouldn't turn on, and the other seven "kitchen" outlets weren't working either. In a nutshell, the electrician stated that the KP200 is not a GFCI unit, and that replacing the GFCI with the KP200 will result in a fire. It broke the chain of protection provided by the eight outlets connected to the unmarked GFCI circuit, which not only violated the state's electrical code, but also created a significant safety hazard. (Once I got to the outside electrical panel, I could see that some of the breakers were GFCI, but there was no indication of that inside the house. ) br>br>The electrician is "VERY OLD SCHOOL," despite his excellent reputation for quality work. As a result, he has TWO pet peeves: (1) ALL smart home automation devices (don't even say the word - "Alexa," as he calls her); (2) ANY "weekend-only" activity. homeowner who isn't a licensed electrician but does his own electrical work br>br>However, in addition to a stern verbal warning about electrical safety, I was also issued a $150 invoice. (I believe some of the $150 was imposed as a punishment. )br>br>Expensive lesson learned. So, BEFORE you make the switch- Replace your old electrical outlet with a TP-style drain. Make sure it's not an UNMARKED CFCI receptacle if you're using the LINK KP200. br>br>By the way, I installed the KP200 in a bedroom the next day, and it works perfectly! It's a great and dependable name. ONE LAST WARNING: THIS IS A BRAND PRODUCT!br>br>ONE LAST WARNING: THIS IS A BRAND PRODUCT!br I only buy smart devices from well-known companies. TP-Systems, for example, is a well-established technology company. Link. Why? In order to function, most "Internet of Things" (IOT) smart devices must communicate with the outside world. As a result, IoT devices could be the WEAKEST LINK in your home's Internet and network security. br>br>To put it another way, you should buy IoT devices from companies that have the financial resources and technical expertise to update BOTH the firmware and software of their products - as time goes on, the product will become more valuable. Works with Alexa and is capable of controlling a fixture with multiple LED bulbs
5/5

I've had this switch installed for three days and am very pleased with it. The only thing it requires is Homekit compatibility, but since I use Alexa to control my lights, I don't mind if it isn't in Apple's Home app. I'm using it to control a chandelier with multiple dimmable LED bulbs, and it's working perfectly - The LED bulbs haven't given me any problems. It is quick and precise in its responses. br>br>The price was also reasonable when compared to the other options I considered. As long as it doesn't break or stop working, I can recommend it without reservation, as long as you can live without Homekit. br>br>But there's one more thing - Yes, removing the plate that comes with it is difficult. You're afraid you'll snap it. It does, however, come off eventually.

Make a mental note of any requirements that aren't documented
3/5

I bought and installed a few Kasa smart switches (3-way and single-way). This is my first purchase of a Kasa smart dimmer switch. This switch is only compatible with dimmable LED bulbs, according to the product specifications. Furthermore, only one bulb can be connected to the line - Even if the load is less than 150 watts and all of the bulbs are dimmable, this product will not support multiple bulbs (in my case, three recessed LED lights on one switch). This specification is not mentioned anywhere on their product page, but when I spoke with support about it in an attempt to get it to work (after purchasing specific bulbs at their request), they said: "I see; my apologies. " br>"I see; my apologies. " As I re- I was advised. Only one dimmable bulb should be used with the HS220. "br>TPLink refused to replace the item because they did not consider it defective; however, I was able to turn the lights on and off, but they would not dim.

With more than one LED bulb, the dimmer will not work
3/5

TP- According to Link support, multiple LED bulbs in a single fixture will not work with the dimmer. br>br>I love the rest of my Kasa switches, but the dimming one has a limited use case due to the fact that it can only dim one bulb. It does a good job of dimming the single bulb in the fixture, for what it's worth. However, if you replace the bulb in the fixture, it will begin to flicker uncontrollably. br>br>Tested with a variety of bulbs from various manufacturers.

There are some privacy concerns, but it appears to work reliably
4/5

We've had these for a few months and they appear to be in good working order. The Kasa app makes switching on and off a breeze! I just wish the app or device had some kind of password protection so that anyone on your network couldn't just download it and start messing with your devices! My schedule has been disrupted by my children and their friends. Like WTH?
TP- Please, LINK, take action to address the issue of data breach!.
