Yes, the smart life app is compatible with this.
No, it cannot connect to a 5GHz WiFI network; it can only connect to a 2GHz WiFI network. It's incredibly simple to set up a 4Ghz WiFi network with the free SmartLife app.
Because I couldn't get it to work with anything, I had to return mine.
There is only one plug and two sockets. Each socket can be turned off or on individually, or both can be turned on at the same time, giving you complete control.

4GHz After that, I was able to use the product exactly as it was intended. Feedback to the producer: Please make it clearer on the product's website that it will only work properly with a 2. WiFi is only available at 4GHz. br>br>Original Post: I have no use for this product. I bought this with high hopes of using it to control my outdoor Christmas lights, but the product description fails to mention that if you have a 5 GHz WiFi network, you will be unable to pair the device with the app, effectively rendering it useless. I would have gotten a lower score if I could have, and I am extremely disappointed.
I bought this for a set of patio lights, and the setup was quick. easy. According to some reviews, a 2 is a must. Despite the fact that the 5 Ghz Wifi band is mentioned in the printed instructions, I was able to connect to my Comcast XFiniti without issue using my Orbi Mesh Network, which only has one network option (5. 0 Ghz). Also quickly connected to Amazon Alexa for even more control. The only disadvantage is that the angled plug/cord made connecting to my outdoor GFCI socket with a weather protector a little difficult. But I took it off, snapped a piece of removable plastic from the weather guard to allow the cord to drop down and close the cover, and voila! I hope this information aids others in making educated decisions!.
It's a problem for me because it's such a waste of electricity, and there's no reason for the patio lights to be left on during the day; it bothered me greatly to see the lights left on, and I couldn't do anything about it. br>br>With this product, you can set a timer to turn off anything connected to it. I connected the patio lights to this device on my next visit to the AirBnb. I can now use the app to turn off the light remotely or set the timer to turn off the light automatically at midnight. You can even set multiple timer functions, so if the group is having a late night hangout on the patio and the lights go out at midnight, they can go back and turn them on. At 2 a. m. or 3 a. m. , you can set another "OFF" timer to turn off the lights once more!.
Most Chinese goods these days come with little to no documentation. That is not the case with this product. It comes with excellent documentation and performs as expected. You did an excellent job. I was also relieved to discover that it is rated for 15 amps. I have two of these, as well as two shop air compressors (the type used to power air tools). Each of these compressors consumes 13 amps of electricity. I was worried about an air line breaking and the compressor(s) running indefinitely, overheating, and catching fire because these compressors are in my basement (with the lines plumbed up to my garage). The plan was to buy two of these, one for each compressor, and be able to effectively turn them off when I'm done. I opened an air line and ran a compressor for about 30 minutes (at 13 amps) as a test, and the smart plug was not only not hot, but also completely cool. There was no indication that 13 amps were being drawn from it.
Networks based on the 4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. I have a router that supports both of these options by default. With a single SSID, you can connect to both 4Ghz and 5Ghz networks. I've got a couple of devices connected to each other via 2. Those connected via 4Ghz and those connected via 5Ghz all used the same SSID. This plug necessitates renaming your networks so that the two have a single SSID. The 4Ghz network has one SSID, while the 5Ghz network has a different SSID. Sorry, but I'm not going to change my SSID because that would necessitate reconfiguring every device on my network. The plug's description does state that it only works with two devices. 4Ghz, but there must be a separate SSID for each of the two. For this plug to work, you'll need a 4Ghz network.
Controlling outdoor lighting has never been easier. This past winter, I purchased two of these, one for outdoor string lights and the other for Christmas lights. While I believe this could be used with other'smart' systems, such as Google Home, Alexa, and others - I simply downloaded and used their app (Smart Life), and it recognized the devices right away, allowing me to rename them (for example, Back Porch Lights) and schedule them. The scheduling part is 100% not intuitive but it is not difficult either and. I simply let them off the leash. It's that simple. "Did you remember to turn off the Christmas lights?" will no longer be a question. It also has a manual button that allows you to easily override the schedule and simply turn it on or off, which is convenient.
It was very simple to set this up to work with my other smart plugs. My bug zapper turned on as expected, which made me happy. After a few hours, I went outside to see if it was still there. The switch appeared to turn on and off, but the power outlet was not functioning. br>br>I'm returning it for a refund. I'll update my review if the substitute works. br>br>6/10/21 UPDATE: 6/10/21 UPDATE: 6/10/21 UPDATE: 6/10/21 UPD br>br>Upgrading a two-star review to a five-star one. After a few weeks of heavy rain, I returned the first unit, and the replacement unit is working perfectly. It allows me to turn on my bug zapper at sunset and turn it off a few hours before sunrise, so I don't have to worry about forgetting to unplug it and having it on all day. br>br>It gets some water splashing where it is plugged in during heavy rainstorms, but it holds up well. If anything changes, I'll update the review.
It was simple to put everything together. Everything worked when I tested it during the day. Even though the plug itself was responding, the lights would not turn on when evening arrived. After using other devices to test the outlet, I've determined that this plug was not working and is no longer working properly. Although the indicator light illuminates, no power is delivered to any devices connected to it. For your needs, you might want to look into other brands. If anything changes, I'll let you know.
