Is this your first time registering? I assumed I could simply add it to my Home or SmartThings account
3/5

No. You must first create a Meross account. I'm sick of having so many accounts and things following me around the internet. I'm looking for simple on/off switches for my house. Why do I need a Meross account for one device but not for all of my others? It's ridiculous. 2nd time around.

There was no luck with the setup
3/5

I noticed that some customers were having trouble setting up this product, but since I'm fairly tech-savvy, I decided to take a chance. savvy. I've spent about 6 hours trying to get it to work so far, with no luck. br>br>My router is broadcasting two channels. 4 GHz (and only 2 GHz in this case). I'm on iOS 14 and have a 4 GHz WiFi connection. 4, in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. I started by following the product's instructions to the letter, but I was never able to get Apple Home to install the device (Unable to Connect). After that, I tried a few different approaches suggested by different people on the internet, but none of them worked. I can see the device in my WiFi setup and it's recognized by both Apple Home and the Meross app, but I can't complete the setup in Home. On my first attempt, the Meross app allowed me to add the device to Apple Home and even turn on and off the two outlets (I could hear them clicking). Unfortunately, this only worked when you were connected to the device's WiFi directly. When I switched to my router's WiFi, Home was unable to locate the device. br>br>I was desperate for this to work. I attempted to contact Meross support via the website's Contact Us form and then via email to their recommended support address, but received no response. br>br>Unfortunately, I'll have to return this to Amazon and look for a different solution. If you decide to try this product, my advice is to be prepared for a difficult, if not impossible, setup.

Wait for a redesign of the product; it's not yet ready for prime time; and two outlets?

- There is only one button
3/5

It's either on or off, so if you have a pond pump and patio lights, they'll always be on or off together when you use the button switch; you can't have one without the other. The outlets can be addressed separately in the app, but the purpose of the button is to allow users to control electric if they don't have their phone with them. A better design would have included a three-way switch. turn the knob - Most flashlights/torches now work in this manner: both on, A on, B on, both off With a single button switch, you can adjust the brightness to dim, brighter, and brightest.

- There are too many outlets in close proximity. Meross used a 7/8-inch three-prong plug, and two of them would work fine, but most outdoor, weatherized three-prong plugs are 1 inch. 1/8 wide. br>br>They saved 25 cents on parts but rendered it useless in a yard. br>br>Returning and waiting for version 2.

SmartPlug for HomeKit is fantastic
4/5

I was skeptical of Meross' outdoor smart plug (MSS620) after having a bad experience with their indoor smart plug (MSS110). However, after spending some time with this device, I have to say that it performs admirably and without the issues that the indoor model did. br>The best feature of this device is - It has two outlets, each of which can be controlled separately! It's up to you whether you want them to appear in HomeKit as one or two separate outlets. Perfect. br>Installation is simple using the HomeKit app, and adding the WiFi wasn't a problem - even if it's a mixed two. Setup for 4/5 GHz I didn't use the Meross app in any way during the setup, and I didn't create an account with them either - I only use their app to check for firmware updates, which I can do without registering with Meross because of privacy concerns. br>This model had a minor voltage leak on the outlet when it was turned off - only 0. Only 8 volts and a smidgeon of current. This is in stark contrast to their indoor model, which had 17-foot ceilings. I measured 19 volts across a variety of devices. br>At this time, the only drawback is that the device is connected to the internet via WiFi rather than Thread - However, I'll keep an eye out for its replacement;.

Setup and synchronization is simple
5/5

It's fantastic! Because the wifi outside my house can be spotty, I was concerned that the plug wouldn't work well. Everything went off without a hitch, which was a pleasant surprise. The only issue I had, which was entirely on my end, was that the firmware did not update when the plug was connected to the wifi outside. I moved the plug inside, updated the firmware, and then moved the plug back outside, where it continues to work just fine.

It's simple to set up and compatible with Apple Homekit
5/5

I think it took me about seven minutes to get this working to control some outdoor lights. You set it up with your smartphone. The two sockets can be controlled independently and provide a lot of power for the money. Both can be controlled manually or through your home automation platform using a smartphone app. br>br>Because we live in an Apple household, I set it up and connected it to our home's HomeKit hub (an Apple TV) for secure Internet access and programmability using my iPhone. I used Apple Homekit to set up an automation so that one of this unit's sockets (which we use to run some outdoor lights) turns on every evening at sunset, automatically adjusting for the season and Daylight Savings Time, and then turns off at 10:01 a. m. Every night, thirty dollars. We'll plug Christmas lights into the second socket. br>br>This takes the place of a high-priced item. (It was "high end" in the sense that it's a model meant to last more than 18 months, which cheaper timers don't, in my experience. ) It was also a model that was always getting screwed up by power outages and, of course, the beginning and ending of Daylight Savings Time. ) Because the old timer is in such an inconvenient location, this device's remote controllability and programmability (via HomeKit) solves a lot of problems! Physically, it's nothing more than a sturdy AC cord with a plug on one end and a socket assembly on the other. It's not particularly heavy, and it's designed to be hung from a wall outlet. There is no need to mount the item. Recommended! br>br> I will update this review if any issues arise. It gets a solid five stars based on first impressions.
