THE CONCERN: br>Wall switches are the most inconvenient part of the HUE system. We have the official dimmer, which cannot be installed in a US 1-light fixture. The tap switch and a gang box Now we have the runlesswire rocker, which appears to be promising, but at sixty dollars per switch, it quickly adds up. The aurora solves this problem by combining a toggle switch and a dimmer in one convenient package at a reasonable price. br>br>SETUP: br>This is something that my grandmother could do. If your home is equipped with toggle switches, the process takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. It works well with the app, and you can then control your room by selecting it from the list. It also has a good level of responsiveness. When a visitor arrives, they immediately put it to good use. If you've ever used a dimmer switch, you're already an expert. THINGS TO THINK ABOUT BR>BR>THINGS TO THINK ABOUT BR>BR>THINGS TO THINK ABOUT BR br>I have a couple of complaints about the system. The first consideration is the level of craftsmanship. It's fine, and I'm confident it'll last, but I had hoped for a little more. The button in the middle is shaky. It's wobbly to the point where I thought it might have been damaged in transit. I opened the other two switches that came in the same package, and they all felt the same. br>br>The same can be said for the steering wheel. Due to the lack of a pot to provide resistance, it feels floaty. I tried everything I could think of to improve the feel of the knob by adding padding or something, but it's extremely tight inside. br>br>WISH LIST: br>One feature I'd like to see added in the future is scene selection, similar to what the Hue dimmer remote offers. Tap the button once to select your default scene, and then tap it again to select a different one. At this point, I'd be content with just two. br>br>Neither the home kit nor the home assistant show the switch. Only the HUE app gives you access to it. I'd love for them to open it up so that home assistant or openhab could control it. The switch's utility would be infinitely expanded as a result.
I do recommend this switch if you are being driven crazy by people flipping switches off and then your lights go unresponsive. % I believe that with a little more effort, this could become THE HUE switch.
The issue is something you're all aware of. We install these fantastic smart bulbs, only for them to be ruined when someone (especially a guest) flips the switch on the wall, preventing our smart devices from connecting to them. It's also convenient to be able to turn on a switch on the wall rather than having to speak. Previously, this meant installing a PITA smart switch on every switch in my house, which I wasn't willing to do. This device, on the other hand, takes less than a minute to install, which I am more than happy to do on every switch in my house. br>br>Basically, it's a light remote control/dimmer that's mounted in such a way that it blocks the switch from being flipped. The best part about it is how easy it is to install. br>br>It's a simple concept, but it's insanely useful in practice. br>br>I think the best part about it is how easy it is to install.
1. Activate the switch by turning it on. br>2. Simply tighten one screw to secure the mounting platebr>3. 4. Attach the dimmer to the mounting plate by snapping it into place. br> Install as a "friends of hue" switch in your hue appbr>br>It took me about 2 minutes to install my first switch without reading any instructions or anything (see video!). Now that I've bought a few more since making the video and have some experience with it, it only takes about a minute from opening the box to having it on the wall controlling my lights. br>br>There are only two drawbacks I can think of. br>1. For mounting, you'll need a standard switch. This will not fit on any of the new fat style flipper switches.
2. It is not compatible with LIFX bulbs. I knew this going in because Hue bulbs are the only ones that do it, but it's still a bummer because I prefer the LIFX bulbs' much brighter light. I think switching to mostly Hue bulbs is worthwhile for this, but if they released something similar that could control LIFX bulbs, I'd be all over it. P. br>br>P. br>br>P. br>br>P. Please accept my apologies for referring to the product as "Lufton Aurora" throughout the video review. I spelled the company's name incorrectly.
A patch for on-behavior was made available. When the light switch is turned on, the aurora dimmer is placed directly on top of it. br>br>One thing to keep in mind is that After adding it as an accessory, I had some trouble getting it to work - As a result, I removed it from the hue app and reset the switch - On the third press, it's two quick presses followed by a long hold. As soon as it begins to blink - It should forget the dimmer settings after three quick presses. br>br>After that, re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re- Using it as an accessory was a good idea. It only took a minute, and it was a minor problem. It has made me very happy! It's responsive enough for my needs and looks more natural than a dimmer switch, with only about a 1/4 second delay in responding to inputs. which was magnetized to the light switch plate for the most part, slightly crooked. br>br>The only thing I'd like to see added (if lutron product management is listening) is some sort of double-sided tape. Use the tap function to switch to a different color or scene.
