I'm not sure, but during the holidays, I'd set mine to only turn on when it gets dark. Between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m. They were also on every night, without fail or delay. My friend placed hers in her flower bed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Hers turn on and off as if on a timer. But I'm not sure about 18 hours; however, there is a good instructional video with the correct model number on YouTube. Before our reviews are approved, we must meet certain unknown criteria in review writing, particularly negative reviews, which Amazon despises because they affect sales of products from which they profit. br>br>However, this outdoor timer is good enough to compel me to write a review that no one will ever see, but what the hell, I'll do it anyway: The ease with which it closes and the tightness with which it does so impresses me the most. The door snaps shut, and you can even secure it with a lock if you want to keep curious kids or neighbors out of your timer box. On the bottom of the box, where your cords exit, there's a really cool feature. The tabs on most similar outlet covers and timer boxes must be broken off or cut out in some way to allow the cords to exit the box and the door to close completely. br>br>This box has the coolest spring loaded tabs that you can easily slide back as far as you need for whatever cord thickness you have. When you remove a cord at a later time, such as when the Christmas lights are taken down, the spring loaded tab returns to its closed position, ensuring a water and spider-resistant interior. br>br>I liked it so much that I ordered two more just to have on hand in case it gets bought out by some mega-corporation. company that turns it into garbage but sells it at a higher price for as long as they can before consumers learn that the products aren't made as well as they once were. br>br>I'm hoping that doesn't happen with these timer boxes because they're extremely well made and worry-free, unlike other timers that trip the GFI breakers every time it rains. With this timer, that is not the case. Thank you for creating the closest thing to a perfect outdoor timer I've ever seen.
round. For a couple of reasons, I bought this Champion timer on Amazon, and it's perfect for the job. br>br>1) In my low-tech kitchen, I have a timer. Malibu lights (voltage lighting) are no longer operational. It would have been more expensive to replace them than it would have been to replace this one. br>br>2) During the holidays, we put up outside lights, and this outlet has 6 grounded outlets that can handle 1875 watts @ 15 amps. It's nice to know that I can stake this in the yard and the lights will turn on and off on their own.
With six outlets, this timer is quite nice. It runs a small fountain for me. It's easy to use and well-designed, with a spring-loaded front cover and bottom-mounted spring-loaded cord covers. It comes with a long, heavy cord and a plastic stake with a spike on the end that you can use to stake it in the ground. However, I have very hard adobe clay soil that is as hard as concrete, and I broke a large hole in the bottom of the unit while attempting to drive the stake into the ground without thinking. The entire thing is made of plastic, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it should be handled with caution. As a result, I had to cover the hole with aluminum and come up with a new mounting stake. Finally, it works well; just remember to dig a "pilot" hole before simply pushing it into the ground. With that caveat in mind, I would recommend it.
I was really looking forward to this purchase. I thought it would save me a lot of time, but most lighted lawn decorations have plugs that only allow for four items to be plugged in at once. Worse, because the plugs are too large, the cover will not close. The warning also states that it should not be used in wet areas.
This is ideal for swimming pool pumps. Once the small piece on the bottom of the door is removed, the large GFI plug fits perfectly, and the weatherproof door can be closed.
