The GFCI performs an automatic internal test on a regular basis to ensure that it can respond to a ground fault. This adds an extra layer of protection.

A gfci will not be activated if there is a power outage. If this breaker trips due to water or overload, the answer is no, it will not be reset. You must press the unit's front-panel button. You must resolve the issue that caused it to malfunction in the first place.

What makes this one different from the gfwt1- Aside from that, it's a lot more cash?

I'm not sure, but my 20 Amp outlet might be more expensive than a standard 15 Amp outlet. I'm not sure what this one's star rating is.

Is it possible to use this on a 240v line?

It's unlikely, in my opinion. It has a voltage rating of 120 volts.

I'm not sure how to change a previous review, but Amazon sent me a replacement for one that appeared to be defective; the only problem was that the instructions were unclear. I wired the outlet incorrectly at first because I couldn't tell which wires were hot and which went to the next outlet, and it didn't work, so I rewired by reversing the wires, but it still didn't work, so I assumed it was defective. The instructions say the outlet is set to "tripped" at the factory, which is easy to miss. So I knew I had to press the reset button to untangle it, or else it wouldn't work. Also, once the tape on the load side is removed, it's easy to lose track of which is which. However, I noticed online that the back of the outlet shows where the line in wires (power feed) and load lines (to send power to another outlet) go, but the instructions never mention this. Another issue was that the outlet was rated at 20 amps, but the instructions indicated 15 amps (no L plug hole), so I couldn't compare it to the old bad outlet. I decided to keep the replacement as a backup and pay for it once the return deadline has passed. This is a new review that I've written.

GFCI of excellent quality, simple to install, and suitable for use in outdoor environments 2- socket in a gang I needed to convert an outdoor 120v receptacle to a 2-prong outlet

To add more LED lighting, use a gang weatherproof receptacle. I bought a GFCI at a local home improvement store and discovered a ground problem while circuit testing after wiring it in. So I went back to exchange it, only to discover that they were out of stock of the same device. As a result, I purchased this Leviton GFCI in its slim configuration. It's well-made, simple to install, fits and tests perfectly, and continues to provide circuit power and protection for the receptacles and circuits they're connected to. This is a great device.

has a green light that lets you know it's good and on, very easy to install (be sure you know what you're doing before attempting, it's very dangerous if wires touch, be safe) had to return 2 other outlets because the grounding setup was terrible and the screws didn't even tighten on. This one is far superior; simply place it in the hole and tighten it. Everything is in order. I'll be purchasing additional outlets to replace a few more. I have the following items on my to-do list:.

Weather- GFI receptacle with water resistance

essential for damp or wet areas. GFI receptacles with built-in protection are available in a variety of styles. I needed one that could be used outside, so it had to be weather-resistant. The need for a resilient model was unavoidable. WARNING - Instructions should be carefully read and followed. Do-it-yourselfers should be aware that this is a potentially hazardous installation. Do-it-yourselfers. . . as well as putting others in danger by installing things incorrectly. Call an electrician if you're not sure.

The outlet is weather resistant but not tamperproof

I needed a GFI outlet for my porch, and while it wasn't necessary, I wanted a weather resistant rated outlet, but everything I found at the big box stores for 20A was tamper proof, which I despise. Because of the extra space provided by the smaller depth, this 20 amp outlet was shallow and easy to install in the box. I have no objections to it being used in an in-house setting. No matter how hard it rains, I've been using the box since I got it.

Nonetheless, they must be used. They aren't inexpensive, either. There's a pattern. br>br>My previous, identical one died after a year of service in a pump house that is only occasionally damp but never gets wet. Despite the fact that I can easily replace these myself, I am resentful of having to.

This is a fantastic receptacle for use outside. This model appealed to me because it lacks the obnoxious tamper resistance. Tamper resistance is a good idea, but it's a pain in the neck in practice because the prongs of the plug must be perfectly aligned for a tamper resistant receptacle to open, which isn't always the case. This trash can is simple to use, and I am pleased with my purchase.

For charging my car, it was a low-cost upgrade

To charge my EV with a 5-amp outlet, I switched from a 15-amp outlet. Instead of the 5-adapter, you'll get a 20-adapter. It included a 15 adapter. It was a simple and inexpensive upgrade to increase charging speed by a few miles per hour. It also adds water resistance to the outlet as well as continuous testing (just in case).
