How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
Based on ambient lighting, the sensor turns the light on or off automatically. A guide light that is energy-efficient consumes about a quarter of the energy that a standard light bulb consumes There are no bulbs to replace and only 1W of electricity is used.
Eliminates the need for a plug-in night light to be plugged into an outlet, which saves space.
The GFCI performs an automatic internal test on a regular basis to ensure that it can respond to a ground fault. This adds an extra layer of protection.
If a GFCI is damaged and cannot respond to a ground fault, the patented lockout action prevents it from being reset.
Design is slim and shallow, making installation easier.
Separately available wallplate

Questions & Answers

Is the wall plate a part of the package?

This item does not include a wall plate. This one, which we ordered from Amazon, is perfect for us - Leviton is a brand of Leviton that was founded in the year 122 80401- NW 1- Standard Size Gang Decora/GFCI Device Wallplate, Thermoplastic Nylon, Device Mount, Small, White

Isn't it safer to just go with the 15a if I'm not sure how many amps my circuit requires (15a vs. 20a)?

QUICK ANSWER: If you're not sure and don't care, a 15A outlet on a 20A circuit is ALWAYS OK. All this means is that you will never be able to plug in anything that requires the special 20A prong. br>EXTENSIVE ANSWER: The previous three responses are all incorrect. To respond to the amps' query about your CIRCUIT: Identify the circuit at the breaker box, turn it off, then open the circuit's outlets and CONFIRM whether you have 12GA (nickel-plated) wire. Wiring can be 14GA (dime-thickness, 15A) or 20GA (thickness, 20A). When it comes to original construction outlets, you can save time by only checking a few of them (the inspector will make sure they're all the same size wiring). Check any outlets that appear to have been added to the home AFTER the remodel, as many DIY projects use the incorrect size romex. 20GA wiring is yellow romex in new construction, but it was previously white (the same as 15A) in older buildings. 1990's. Some will tell you to "just check the breaker," but you have no way of knowing if the previous owner installed 20A breakers on a 15A circuit (which is unfortunately common).

Is there a way to turn off the led guide lights permanently?

You won't be able to turn them off indefinitely. Purchase a GFCI that is not labeled as gluten-free. There are no lights to serve as guides.

If the unit isn't grounded, will the nightlights work? Because one of my rental units does not have a fully circuited ground, I am unable to use the occupancy switch?

It would be possible to use the night light. An ungrounded circuit, on the other hand, should not have grounded outlets installed.

Why would someone choose a cold blue color for a nightlight? I'm hoping Leviton gets wind of this
3/5

As an electrical outlet, this is very useful. It's terrible as a nightlight. I'd return it if I hadn't paid for the installation. Cold 5 is something I try to stay away from. 000- Throughout my home, I use 6,500K color lighting. They're especially bad as night lights because blue light is enervating--and there's a lot of it here. That is to say, it has a tendency to jolt people awake. It's also quite light. It's kind of cool that it also illuminates the slots, but I'm not sure why anyone would plug something into an outlet in the dark. My advice to potential buyers is as follows: Purchase something that does not require this level of illumination. Leviton, please upgrade these diodes/LEDs to a warmer (2,500-degree) temperature. 3,000K) color temperature!.

Take note of the installation instructions' diagrams
5/5

One of my GFCI outlets stopped working, and it knocked out two other outlets with it, so I'm very pleased with this product. I'm pretty confident in my ability to work with house wiring, so I figured it'd be a piece of cake - It should've been, at the very least. Thick gauge solid copper, on the other hand, is difficult to work with. I figured I'd just take out the old one and connect the wires one by one. The issue was that I misjudged the amount of space available in the electrical box. The first one I ordered was far too large to fit in the box with all of the wires. After that, I came across this Leviton slim model. I was able to get it back into the wall after a long time. However, it did not work right away. The solid white light was there, but there was no power. I finally realized that the outlet was wired backwards in the wiring instructions! The ground prong was on top of the diagrams, but I was wiring for an old outlet (as well as every other outlet in my house) that had the ground plug at the bottom. I rearranged the wires, then spent another 30 minutes attempting to cram everything back into the wall, and it now works. I'm surprised they were able to fit in a slimmer package than other brands because the automatic nightlight is a great feature.

This isn't going to work
3/5

This is the second unit that has performed in the same manner as the first, and it is wired according to the manufacturer's specifications. All of the wires are secure and connected correctly. But all I get is a solid white light in the corner, and I can't seem to get it to reset. I can't get either of the ones I bought to reset.

It's fantastic! It really works
4/5

When you turn off the lights in the room, it automatically turns on. It produces a nice amount of light. The hot and neutral plugs reflect light, giving the effect of a cool silhouette. It also comes with a lot of safety features. When you turn the power back on, it will be in the "tripped position," so you'll need to reset it. If it detects that you have improperly wired it, it will not reset. (For example, if you wire the hot line-in to the hot load side, it will not reset. ) If you're wiring downstream non-hot lines, make sure you understand the Line and Load Side(s). GFI receptacles are used to protect against GFI. It would be nice to have an infinite dimmer (which it does not have as far as I know); It can be too bright at times (especially when entering the room and looking directly into it due to its placement). When your vision is set for night, you may experience a deer in the headlights problem. If you can turn it away from you as you enter the room, that would be ideal. This is perfect. You might be able to reduce the brightness by covering the LED with translucent tape. I didn't have to because of where I was. YMMV.

It's ideal for Amateur Radio enthusiasts to have in their homes
5/5

As a test, I replaced one and liked it a lot. As a result, I placed a few more orders. The nightlight is exceptionally effective. I'm an amateur radio operator with antennas in the attic, and whenever I transmitted between 20 and 100 watts on any band, a few of my original builder GFICs would trip or chatter/hum. Not all of them, but the same ones each time, so I replaced them with these and the problem is no longer present. These have been re-imagined and re-imagined again. Engineered over a 15-year period and are not RF sensitive! I didn't replace all of my GFICs; only the ones that trip frequently were replaced, and I now have extra nightlights! These are something I would strongly recommend to any other radio amateur. Zulu Yankee will perform on November 5th.

In my garage, it's perfect, but in my kitchen, it's a tad too bright
4/5

I have one in my garage, which is great for providing light at the bottom of my house's stairs. I wish the sensor in my kitchen could be adjusted because unless I turn on my under cabinet lighting, it is always on. This may not be an issue in brighter kitchens, but having it on all day and night is unusual. It's also extremely bright, and I wish it could be adjusted like the regular outlet and night light from Legrand. Unfortunately, neither Legrand nor Leviton offer a way to change the brightness of a GFCI. Overall, a good product, though the sensor and brightness could be adjusted.

This is a great way to add a nightlight to your bathroom without using up a valuable outlet
5/5

Despite the fact that the instructions that come with the device are very detailed, unless you are an expert in understanding the differences between. This device may be better installed by a qualified electrician if it is connected to load circuits. To add to the intrigue, if an older model of this device is removed and the same wires are attempted to be replaced on the new device, it may not work because the line and load wires appear to be reversed from the older model. Either that or my wire labeling scheme didn't work out. However, once properly installed, the device provides just the right amount of light for use as a bathroom nightlight.
