Modern GFCI outlets do not have this problem. When a ground fault is detected at or above 4-foot, these will only open (shut off). 5mA. A power outage, on the other hand, can result in voltage issues in your home, causing the GFCI outlet to trip. When lightning strikes close to your home and there is no surge protection, ground faults can occur, causing the outlets to trip. When tripped, however, a light will illuminate, and the reset is straightforward. I hope this has been of assistance.
Yes, this is one of the drawbacks of the GFCI with tamper resistance. The shutters are usually disengaged with a little wiggle while pushing in.
The EOL (End of Life) Indicator and the Trip Indicator are the two amber/red LEDs on the face. I double-checked the instructions, and both lights should be turned off in the normal state. A light that is on or blinking indicates a problem; however, I do not have one of these installed in front of me to confirm this, so I would appreciate confirmation from those who have purchased and installed this model. Just make sure they have this model number because some models from other companies, such as Leviton, have a green (rather than red) LED indicator to indicate that the unit is turned on.

This is a positive development. In terms of performance, things have been going well so far. In fact, I bought these Eaton models because "Eaton" makes large components for lighting circuit control that I've seen in use at the chemical plant where I work. They were purchased to replace a slew of GFCIs in my ten-year-old home that were tripping for no apparent reason. I suppose it's preferable for a faulty/old GFI to trip more frequently than for it to stay hot and dangerous. GFIs, on the other hand, should last at least ten years, in my opinion. Hopefully, these Eatons will outlast their 10-year warranty.
The product appears to be of good quality, and installation is straightforward if you are familiar with outlet/GFCI installation (if you aren't, watch a YouTube video). The tamper-resistant feature can be annoying, and it may lead people who aren't familiar with TR to believe that the outlet is broken. TR outlets, on the other hand, are becoming more common in certain spaces as part of the electrical code.
More affordable than Home Depot, quick delivery to my home, and good quality.
Both the test and reset buttons were put to the test. It performs as expected. When a ground fault occurs, I like how the LED indicator light illuminates. My previous outlet had ghost trips, which were resolved with this new outlet.
The pictograph instructions are extremely useful for setting up. They also provide information on troubleshooting and testing. It's a well-made product, and you can tell when it's going to trip.
From another vendor, a direct replacement for the failed unit. So far, everything seems to be going swimmingly. This unit appears to be of good quality.
It's difficult to connect appliances with 2 prong plugs to it because of the tamper resistant tabs.
It's fantastic.
