Wire is inserted into a hole in the sturdy housing, and when the screws are tightened, the wire is clamped down. For a secure connection, this is the best method. It appears to be of comparable, if not superior, quality to Leviton or Pass. Seymour. The strap is well-made, and the mounting screws are captive. I'm going to buy more. This book comes highly recommended. I purchased three of them and am very pleased with my decision. In comparison to Home Depot and Lowes' rip-offs, the price is reasonable.
