I bought these to use outside because the description said they were "ideal for outdoor use. " I discovered that their operating temperature range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius (32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit) when I received my order. These aren't suitable for outdoor use unless you live in a unique location where it never gets hot or cold. If you're going to use them indoors or in a very mild climate, these are still a good deal. I installed some indoors and am pleased with their performance. br>br>Other reviewers mentioned that the screws were a problem. The screws tighten an internal clamp that holds the wire very securely in mine, which had holes in the back that accepted 12 AWG solid copper wire. The devices I received were not made to be wired on the side. Any attempt to side wire them would cause screw problems. br>br>If it weren't for the misleading description, I'd give these 5 stars because they're a great deal and perfect for indoor use. Because of the deceptive description, I'm docking two stars. The temperature range should be mentioned in the description or specifications, rather than "ideal for outdoor use. ".
The price for five 20-amp GFCI outlets is very reasonable, and the faceplates are also included. This is a fantastic deal. br>br>I had two standard outlets in the bathroom (built 40 years ago) that were now up to code. Also, in the kitchen (another area where electrical codes have changed), a couple were replaced. I have a spare, which I plan to keep in the garage near the water heater. GFCI outlets should be installed wherever there is a risk of water and electricity mixing (bathrooms, kitchens, garages near water sources, outdoor outlets, etc. ). They act more quickly than a regular breaker and may save you from a serious electric shock.
I bought gfci outlets for between $16 and $20 at a local hardware store. In the last five years, there have been a total of 18 of them. Despite the use of sealants and weather covers, these products failed on several occasions. As a result, I purchased a five-pack. Since receiving these, I've put two into service, and they're both working great. Since its installation, one has been in continuous use. The green LED on light is excellent for quickly determining whether or not the outlet is working. These are superior gfci outlet replacements, in my opinion. Installing it was a breeze.
Really good value for GFSI outlets, but I had two that didn't workbr>We checked with the more expensive GFSI from Home Depotbr>so it's definitely an outlet issuebr>Maybe I got a bad batchbr>Quality appears to be on par with ours in the market for half the price, making it good value.
For the money, it's a great deal. I would normally buy these from Lowes or Home Depot in my neighborhood, but I wanted to see if there was a better alternative. These arrived early and worked perfectly; the packaging is very simple, which is fine; the faceplate, two plate screws with a white finish, and the J-bolt are all included. If the ones in the current box need to be replaced, you'll need box screws. It was easy to set up.
One of the units was defective, and another was dead on arrival. Wires cannot be wrapped around the side screws because they are too short. By working backwards, I was able to complete the task. stab the wires with a fork - The wire clamps appear to be in good working order.
These GFCI are fantastic for such a low price, and I'm saving money and possibly my life, which is nice.
Everything was fine except for the fact that I backed a wire screw out too far and it came out, with no easy way of reattaching it. As a result, the outlet is no longer functional. Always be cautious out there!.
