This is merely a tool for punching down. It can theoretically be used with any network cable. Shielded cable simply adds shielding to the cable or individual pairs, and depending on your termination/connector, it can be punched down or wrapped.
Selected User Reviews For Southwire Tools & Equipment PDTC-1 Comfort Grip Punch Down Impact Tool, 110-style
This is not the tool for you if you prefer a punchdown tool with pushdown feedback and an audible click. It doesn't press into the handle or make any noise, but it does exactly what it's supposed to do and does it well.
The tool accomplishes the task at hand by punching wires into keystones and patch panels. However, keep in mind that this is a push-down tool, not an impact tool. If the word "impact" wasn't in the tool description, I would give it five stars.
Very useful tool.
It's very portable and small. However, this does not punch down like normal punchdowns; instead, it is one solid piece, so you must rely on guesswork when punching down.
It really works.
Comfortable, precise, and razor-sharp.
It really works. Used for CAT5 HO train layout wiring, for example.
