First and foremost, punching wires on a patch panel was a new experience for me. br>I bought the Klein Tool, as well as a non-spring version from Menards. After a number of failed attempts with the Klein on both low and high settings, I returned to the non-destructive method. Version for spring. I attempted to connect a 6A wire to a 6A patch panel with it. The 110 bit on the Klein tool has a slight wiggle (up, down, left to right, and a slight twist). It was difficult to align the bit on the wire, and neither setting had enough power to either push or cut the wire into place. On a ladder, four feet in the air, I was punching down wires above a server rack. I simply took the tool from my pouch to see what else I could find. The "locking blade" feature is completely useless. The bit can be grabbed and twisted to release it. I would recommend looking for something more suitable elsewhere.
This is a superbly built and assembled piece of equipment. It's extremely durable and doesn't appear to be low-cost. When terminating lines, the rubber grips make it easy to grip and keep it from sliding or becoming uncomfortable. The only thing about this tool that irritates me is that it comes in this ridiculous package that is nearly impossible to open without hedge cutters or heavy-duty scissors. It's that dreadful hard plastic that splinters. Aside from that, I highly recommend this as a tool for anyone working in a low-voltage position or who has to terminate lines.
It really works. I'm just hoping it lasts as long as my other Klein punch down tools. They will not be covered by Klein's warranty. This is where I'll be going for the review. This punch down tool has been in my possession for quite some time, and I use it on a regular basis. It has stood the test of time and continues to perform admirably.
This is my first time using this type of tool. It is simple to use and performs flawlessly.
Well, it looks and feels nice, but the piece that holds the blade in place broke on the second try, rendering it useless.
Klein produces the best tools for electricians in the United States. br>They have a fantastic selection of tools.
When people are punching down lines, this is a great all-in-one.
Klein is one of my favorite brands and I've never had a problem with any of their products, and this punch down is no exception. Better than a fluke or a southwire, and people always ask me to use my tool because it has a built-in wire puller, which others don't.
