It can be used to punch down Cat6 cables on an Ethernet patch panel, but does it work?

I agree! In fact, I used it for just that purpose. I had no problems with it, but the place near the mounting bracket at the end did not work very well. It was just a regular tool that I used. It saved me tons of time and gave me sore hands the rest of the time.

To the person looking at this tool, I recommend Hubbell or you can just use your single pair punch

I find that the punchdown tool is not very effective. It cost me more than expected to buy it, use it on two jobs, and then have to go back and do everything over, because the tool does not physically press the wire into the 110 block as The tool kept falling, such as wire map, NEXT, etc. I contacted the seller and asked for a refund, but was told I could only get an exchange for the same crap tool. It is best to stick to Hubbell or just to your single pair punch down if you are looking for this.
