Questions & Answers

Is it strong enough to cut through stainless steel?

According to the greenlee website, it can cut mild steel. Mine has served as a power panel for my home. It would probably work on a thin sink, but stainless Punches are available for use with stainless materials.

Is it possible to use a 1/2" battery-powered impact driver instead of the wrench to drive the studs? Or will the studs simply break as a result of such an impact?

I've never used an impact before, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're cutting sheet metal or very thin-walled steel or aluminum.

Selected User Reviews For Greenlee - 50347578 7238SB Ratchet, SB, 1/2" - 2"

Solid product at a reasonable price
5/5

When I purchase a GreenLee item, I know I'm getting a good deal. It's no different with this punch set. Because I'm from Canada and have always seen this set for around $550 CAD, I jumped at the chance to get it when I saw it on Amazon for only $300 USD. While I was in the United States, I visited the website www. com. So far, I've only used it for 1/2" punches, but it's perfect. It leaves a very clean hole, free of burs and shards that a hole saw or stepper bit would normally leave. The L16 or conduit nipple will also fit perfectly into the hole. I recommend having a stepper bit on hand to enlarge your initial pilot hole to the size required to get the bolt through.

The product is good, but the packaging is terrible
4/5

Great product at a reasonable price. The only issue I had with the set was that when it arrived, the dies were missing a piece of cardboard above the pointed ends, which they had torn into, leaving an enormous amount of cardboard fibers all over the inside of the case, mixed in with all the threads and pre-cuts. pieces with oil on them It had turned into a total shambles. Because the fibers became entangled in the oil, I had to remove everything and clean it with brake cleaner before re-oiling it. br>br>With the exception of that flaw, I would recommend this set to anyone with similar requirements. Ratchets are much less expensive than pneumatic versions, and they're really not that much of a difference if you're not drilling a lot of holes. I do a lot of service work, and finding a new panel to fit an old service entrance can be difficult, but this makes it a lot easier.

Great
5/5

I keep the 3/4" and 1" in my bag, along with a Knipex Pliers Wrench of the same size as the ratchet. The pliers wrench is superior because it does not slip and provides equal leverage and speed. If you're doing home runs or panel work, these make quick work of drilling holes when you don't have access to company hydraulic knockouts. Because I don't use the case or the larger knockouts very often, I keep them in my car. I would have purchased the knockouts sooner if I had known how much better life would be with them. br>br>An elderly man on the job uses an impact and a 1" socket to twist the boxes into place. I'm not that brave, but it appears to be sharp and still takes it years later. This is a high-quality, long-lasting tool that is well-known among tradesmen. That's why I chose this instead of Klein or Harbor Freight.

I don't believe in touch won't thread because of poor quality control
3/5

I ordered two kits and have only opened one of them because the 1" knock out won't thread into the shaft, and the return window has now closed. Will you please send the one" knockbr>out punch?.

Shipping was very quick
5/5

According to the advertisements, the kit appears to be brand new and unused. So far, everything appears to be in good working order. After I've tried it out, I'll update the review.

What you pay for is exactly what you get
5/5

This is the second Greenlee knockout kit I've purchased. The first one was bought over a decade ago and is still in use. It was the smaller set, which came to a halt at number one. 1/4. This one was ordered because I needed a bigger set. Because it sits closer to the work and rolls off less, the ratcheting handle outperforms my old ratchet and socket method. br>These are far superior to the knock-offs from China. HFT sells knock-offs like these. Buy the cheapest ones if you only need one or two holes. Greenlee is the way to go if you want something that will last for years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and.
