A new version of my review is available. As I approach my third unit in the past two years, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. My needs are met and it is exactly what I've been looking for. Unfortunately, the cord keeps on wearing out right at the point where it attaches to the plastic loop this keeps the key ring from staying on. I'm about to snap my current one, and it looks ready already. Every 5 months I have to replace it, which seems to be getting more and more expensive. * Update * It takes a second for me to realize the Kevlar cord is actually attached via a knot to the key ring holder. I see it differently now, instead of having to keep buying new ones all the time, you just have to catch the moment when the cord gets thinner at that black plastic ring holder, cut it, push out the old knot, and pull the new portion of cord through and knot it. It won't hurt to try it, but I haven't tried it yet. The fact that it works so well now makes me feel comfortable giving it 5 stars. Without it, I could not imagine working at all. There is one thing, however, that I really dislike, which is the clacking of the keys, but obviously that is not the fault of the key ring.
I always tie a rubber band around the keys, which quietes.

The things I lose are important to me. There are places on buses, in train stations, everywhere I leave things. All I've found to do is tie stuff to my xelf. The cords can be attached without hanging lengths of cord. It is useful when I have heavy tools that are incompatible with the usual ones. These things are very very special to me. It would be nice if the price stayed low.

For the second one, the ratcheting feature broke and I could not retract it for the third, there were no problems. They were replaced under warranty in the beginning.

The lock needs to be scratched Despite the fact that it is a little bigger than expected, the unit works great. There was a damage to the carabiner when it came out of I don't recall seeing any damage to the box so an inefficient QC procedure must have been used. Sadly, the whole carabiner clip looks flimsy, which is too bad since the rest of the unit looks great.

I have had the unit for 5 months now and the cord with the knot has come out. In terms of key retractor units, this was supposed to be one of the higher end units. It's not going well for me.

This is a large key holder made of heavy metal and will work well for that use. An ID holder should not be worn around the neck with this item. The size of the project is simply too large.
