You are surprised at how short 2' is

The items are excellent, well build, and you will have the extra room you need to move them if they need to be moved. Just add 6 inches to a foot to your measurement and you will have enough to move them.

I am satisfied with the quality of the flex used for the gas connection

I am satisfied with the quality of the gas connection flex. The connector measures 24 inches long, but it is sold in 24 inch lengths. There is in fact only a 22" length (at least the one I received was only 22"), which is quite a bit shorter than claimed. It is not possible to "stretch" it to 23" or even 24".
