You'll need a Google Nest Mini if you want to skip the doorbell chime. "There's someone at the door," the Mini will say. In the best app, you'll have to select this option.
Because of the change in weather, I won't be using it outside. I drilled a hole from the inside of my home to our covered porch.
It is not compatible with a Simplisafe. It was unable to be installed by the technician. I had to place an order for a Nest doorbell.
This transformer is intended to be used in place of a standard doorbell transformer. If your Google Doorbell can be charged using the same transformer as an old push-button doorbell, it's a win-win situation. If the doorbell has a button, it should probably be used. The transformer produces 18 VAC at 500mA at its output. Is this what the Google Doorbell wants to see? If you say no, your Google Doorbell will not be charged by the transformer.

This is unquestionably a specialty solution for those who require it. This means that only a small percentage of people who buy a video doorbell will look for it. We can recommend this one if you need to power a video/smart doorbell from a standard AC outlet. So far, it's powered up four different models (Nest, Ring, Amcrest, and Remo) without a hitch or extra step. Of course, if you normally use regular doorbell wiring to reach your chime inside, you won't be able to use it because it will now be connected to an outlet. Fortunately, many major smart doorbell systems include a wireless Chime option in their accessory lineup. br>br>We use this for models that come in that we test but don't have the ability to install them normally to get power to them right away. The wire is thin but strong, and I've had no problems with the adapter in months. When compared to tearing up drywall to find an electrical junction and installing a dedicated power source with a doorbell transformer (which is what the Nest really wants to connect to), using this device saved me hundreds of dollars.

My 3. My 5-year-old Nest Hello went offline on January 1st, and I couldn't get it to reconnect. After a factory reset and several failed attempts, I decided to purchase a new Nest Hello. A few days later, the new one was taken down. I switched to an indoor power supply, thinking it was a power issue. br>br>On this adapter, the doorbell functioned for a few days before going offline! I tried using USB to connect both doorbells to my laptop, but it didn't work. I connected the C to USB and they both powered up and connected to my network, so I assumed it was a power issue. I tried four different plugs but couldn't get it to work - I tried my regular network wifi, guest wifi, and my iPhone hotspot, but none of them worked. Trying the same things over and over. Resetting the camera, connecting to wifi, unplugging one of the power leads for 30 seconds, and turning the camera on and off Despite the fact that I read somewhere that all Nest devices must be on the same network band, and that they perform best on 2, they performed best on 2. 5. If your front door doesn't have a doorbell, you'll need one of these to tell your nest hello. My doorbell is a Google Home Mini, which works perfectly. To mount the nest with this wall wart, I drilled two holes: one from the front door to the inside of the house, and one on the side of the door trim so I could feed the wire down the side of the trim to a wall plug. Because I used white tape along the trim, you won't notice the wire. It was very simple for me to install; all I needed were the appropriate drill bits and a little spackle to fill in the holes once the wire was run.
If your existing wiring doesn't have enough voltage or your inside chime/plunger isn't working, this is a great way to get the Nest Video Doorbell up and running. Although I had to drill through the wall (behind the wall plate) to run the adaptor wire, it worked flawlessly in powering up the doorbell with the requested voltage.
It does exactly what it says. I used to have a hardwired doorbell, but the transformer had died, so I removed it many years ago, assuming that all future doorbells would be wireless. This was ideal for my Simplisafe Video Doorbell because I had left the old wires in the door; all I had to do was splice them to the leads of this power supply, and I now have my power supply plugged in and completely invisible down in the basement. Very nice! If the product doesn't live up to my expectations, I'll update this - I've had it for a few weeks now, and so far it's been fine.
