Questions & Answers
It is NOT an outdoor-rated cord, so stay away from it! "A cord set not marked for outdoor use," as required by law when it is not rated for outdoor use. This includes any type of outdoor activity, not just those involving water. "Use while wet" is not an option. I also say "keep away from water." luvtotrade should not be allowed to post such dangerous comments!
If you only require a 50-foot cord, this should suffice.
It's not meant to be used outdoors!

It has a foul odor. This cord is fine in terms of functionality, but it stinks! Unless it's kept in a plastic bag, it has a strong chemical odor that can fill a room. Because it is an outdoor cord, it must stink awfully bad, and I believe it has a flame retardant coating on it, which could be the source of the odors. This will have to be kept in my garage. br>br> Even after wiping the cord down twice, it still stinks too much to leave open in a room. br>br> I bought this primarily for my garage, but I'm unable to keep it in my living quarters. It would most likely take a long time for the chemical fumes to dissipate. It's unfortunate that it has such a foul odor. Perhaps it's due to the chemical treatment's flame retardant properties.
It has been working flawlessly for over a month. To keep water out of the connection, I purchased a cord protector. It runs from my garage to my backyard, and for weeks, almost the entire length of cord has been buried beneath snow. We're in the midst of a polar vortex, and the temperature (without windchill) was -. The temperature was 11 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of the photograph. It continues to function properly. This cord has made me very happy!.
I'm not sure why the listing says it's water resistant when the packaging says not to use it in a wet environment. Another thing I can't use but can't return because it's too small. I can use it in a dry garden and in my desert home to hang Christmas lights, but not in a rainy home.
This extension cord has been in my possession for a few months. The extension cords were able to withstand wind, rain, snow (yes, I had snow in October), and extremely hot days.
For our outdoor birdbath, I needed a longer cord to connect the power and the heater. It has withstood rain and strong winds, and I see no reason why it won't do the same in the winter snows. The seller and product were both excellent in terms of delivery to our home, and I would recommend them both.
If you're using extension cords, don't skimp on the quality. That was the only time I messed up. This cord is strong and flexible, and it will last for a long time.
For outdoor use, I think this cord or cord insulation is a little thin. The cord's appearance is deceiving, as it appears to be much thicker than it actually is. I've worked with electrical cords in my installation career, and this cord, which is about a quarter inch thicker than the one it replaces, would not be used on a job site. Normally, out door cords are subjected to more intense use, necessitating the additional insulation. I've used thicker cords before, but not this brand, and they didn't work out. But that's just my viewpoint. Best wishes to you.
For my outdoor Christmas lights, I purchased the Iron Forge green 10 and 25 foot cords. After a few weeks, there have been no issues. The green appears to be of good quality, and it blends in well with the grass. Much better than the previous method of using orange and red cords, which stood out like a sore thumb. Perhaps a bit pricey for Amazon. $17 was the price I paid. On 12/10, I received a 95 for a 10-footer. Now, on December 29, it's listed for $14. That was probably a pre-Christmas markup versus a post-Christmas markdown. I assumed it was made in the United States because of the price, but it turns out it was made in China. As a result, I'd give them a slap on the wrist for that.
