My cord has already been stored for the year, but it still works as described. I would guess the switch is about 2 1/2 feet away from the outlet to answer your question.

These cords come in a number of shapes and sizes. There were no pictures or descriptions of the product so I could not be sure I was ordering the right part. everything worked perfectly. I have attached a photo of the packaging, which shows the product line drawing. Please see the second photo for a demonstration of how the cord actually works. There's a push button switch built into the cord along its length, a little closer to the wall prong than the part into which you plug your lamp or whatever. The shelf I put the two lamps on has a height of six feet. It became impossible for me to turn on and off the lamps because they were so tall. Plugging both lamps into this extension cord, zip-tying the extension cord to the shelf support, with the push switch accessible, and plugging the cord into an electrical outlet worked perfectly for me. Thanks to these lamps, I can now use them easily.
I expected it to be centered in the extension cord. It was less than three feet from the plug on a 12 foot cord. For my purposes, this is an unsuitable design. I think the cord is of good quality aside from that. As specified in the cords description, I saw that the switch was perfectly centered (I did notice that in the answers section of the answer tab).
I am pleased with the product. It performs very well. In order to make my lamps accessible to seniors, I am using the cords. The lamp is plugged into the cord, and the cord is plugged into a A switch for turning the lamp on and off is located at the base of the end table. The chain is not in the shade, and I will not become a pretzel to reach it. There is no way to throw me off balance even if I stand beside a lamp to reach under the shade. It's a good day for me.
With this I was able to add 6' of extra lead cord to my order. Although I completely understand what other reviewers had to say about the position of the foot switch in relation to the plug, there is nothing I can add to the discussion. In order for me to make this work, I plugged a surge protector with an eight foot cord into the outlet behind the tv cabinet, then wound the cord under the cabinet so that I could plug the extension/footswitch into it in a daisy chain style. Next, I connected the lamp on top of the small fridge next to the tv cabinet to the extension/footswitch, with the switch sitting on the floor between the cabinet and As a result, it is now working flawlessly with surge protection included. As a result, I received 6 feet of extra lead cord, which I needed, and I was able to tuck the cords under furniture to hide them so that all I could see was Normally I would have given this product 5 stars, but I will give it four stars. There isn't much of a advantage to having just 3' of cord between the outlet and the floor switch.
Installing a foot-in-floor heating system required the use of this extension cord An LED lighting row under my basement bar is controlled by a tap switch. I only need to tap the light switch to turn the lights on or off when I want to open my basement bar. In the future, this is going to be helpful since I will use the space for storage and I did not want to dig for a power outlet. It has worked flawlessly so far. I'm already using it without even looking to see where it is the location is already It appears that some of the previous posters had overlooked the fact that the switch isn't far from the wall, it's only in the middle of the plug. If you expect to be able to reach the button from your device, then this isn't the case. Otherwise, it is great.
When I plugged in and switched off my lamp the switch stopped working, so I had to crawl around furniture to plug it in and then unplug it. The product has simplified my life and saved me the money I would have spent on replacement or repair if I had to replace it in the future. My push button is up on an end table, so I just reach over and press it when I want to start it or shut it It's a happy camper for me!.
In order to turn two walls, I needed to turn three The switch allows you to turn on and off mounted lights simultaneously. The product works fine, but I have a problem with the length of the cord between the switch and the plug. It's only about two and a half feet (I measured). Because I can't avoid having my extension cord near my couch any longer, I now have to use my extension cord near the couch.
