Questions & Answers

Can the circuit breakers in this subpanel be used in tandem?

The answer is yes. According to the catalog number, 8 full size single pole circuit breakers or 16 tandem single pole circuit breakers are supported.

It would make sense to use this as a subheading Feeding will be done with # 8 gauge and we will be using it as a panel. If a # 8 THHN can carry 40 pounds, then that may be the case Is that okay?

I would like to clarify that two legs at 30 amps do not equal 60 amps. It consists of two wires, allowing for 240volt. (The red and black wires are your hits.) There is a 120v outlet on each leg. When this connection is made to your panel, it allows you to alternate which leg you pull from as you proceed down the space. The reason you use a double slot breaker when adding a 240volt circuit is as a result of pulling two 120volt hot feeds at once. As an example, let's say you're running a large motor like a table saw or an HVAC fan and you need 60 amps (very arbitrary). It is claimed that you can send 60 amps over one wire at 120 volts, though the wire would have to be extremely long. By using 220 volts you can reduced your amperage in half, thereby allowing you to run smaller wire. It is crucial, of course, that the equipment is able to handle it, and that the panel and a few other things are in place as well.

Hey, this may seem odd, but when I compare this to another, I noticed it only has one nutral ground line instead of two. I don't need two ground lines, am I ?

Possible, all depends on what you are doing, and you also need to know what the local code requirements are

Do you think this can be used as a subpanel of 100 amps?

There is no main breaker on it, and I doubt the wire lugs are large enough to support a 100 Amp wire. I used it as a 60 Amp extension from my main service for garage use. You will need to contact the manufacturer.

A round bar was linked to this panel but it doesn't fit
5/5

This page was last edited on 21 June 2011. This year This is important There is a ground bar displayed on Amazon for this panel that does not fit. As it stands, this 15-place bar is a little too long to slide into the area made for it and the screw holes aren't lined up correctly. I have an 8 position bar that's 5 inches In my opinion, I Can you please tell me what you think? Subpanels are the ones on the sidebar.
This is a box of steel with a door that locks, with some plastic and metal inside. It is not particularly complicated. In addition to Siemens, my other sub panel (lugs only) and my main breaker panel are Siemens as well. The $12 charge for a ground bar from Siemens is an indication they "get you. " When you connect this to a main breaker panel with a 200 amp main breaker, you should use 6 60 amp breakers The NEC actually does not address "sub panels" and the NEC only has 3 breakers with ground
cables from the breakers to the lugs in the subpanel (this is my interpretation after studying it).

I like the subpanel in the garage
5/5

This particular subpanel would be tempted to be mounted upside down as the top and bottom are not symmetrical, and one side may be more functional for the user. Many of these can be mounted upside down if it makes things more elegant and simplify your wire runs. You would think this is awesome until you go to mount the door and discover the labels are facing the wrong direction. It is not possible to center the breakers, so the door will only fit It's fortunate that the labels aren't permanently attached and can, if necessary, be removed. Having said all that, I am certainly glad I chose this unit. The steel and paint are high quality, there is ample space for elegant wiring, and it is still thin enough to fit between two wall studs 14" apart. My ground terminal block was already available for use, so putting it in was easy. It's a good value, and it would actually improve the situation if I used A separate block is required for this subpanel which will incur additional costs if you plan to use it as a subpanel.

Having said that, here is a thought worth considering
5/5

I thought this box was very nice As I had expected, this is close to The keyboard that came with my keyboard did not have a ground bar. I am not sure if other manufacturers do this. A grounding system must be bonded with neutral on a main panel, so for the uninitiated this might not be a problem. A box of this size and type would be expected to be used as a subpanel, but it is simply configured for main lugs only (no main breakers). THE LAYERS SHOULD BE SEPARATED BASED ON GROUND AND NEUTRAL. In the instructions, pictures, or descriptions (Amazon included), there's nothing that indicates a ground bar must be purchased separately if this is needed - the novice might make a very dangerous mistake, since ground and neutral are not separate in the subpanel. I like this one a lot.

It is made from cheap Although you get a lot for your money, the rivets or retainers that hold the plastic box to the plastic are low-quality

It's good that you won't have to swap out the breakers too much otherwise it would fall apart. A lot of the labeling is unclear. There is an electrical panel on the door that does not match the breaker layout. It is also not possible to apply labels to individual breakers due to space constraints. On the door, I taped the diagram I made separately. I'll go to the store and buy one next time instead of sitting on my bum!.

A ECGB14 ground bar would be an ideal match for I certainly think these two panels are perfect together, and the ECGB4 ground bar is just what this panel needs! I felt that previous reviewers were correct that this was for this panel

I also found the best price I could find for this panel locally, as no one had it in stock.

For the price, this is a great product

This would be a great way to add a subpanel or even a transfer switch at a reasonable price. To provide backup power in the event of a power outage, I bought this load center and built my own transfer switch. Having a relatively small load center is what I like about this center. A surface option is available and it is compatible with mini/tandem circuitry. The Siemens company is a great and reliable one. Choosing this brand is a surefire way to get it right.

This is a good quality product
4/5

If you are using Siemens breakers, then this is decent quality. For the front of the cabinet, there was only one retaining pin. The holes are four in number. It would have deserved five stars if it hadn't been for this.
