Please take the time to read the most recent update. This is the second one I've had to buy since I bought my aquarium hood about four years ago, so they're not the most durable electronic devices in my house. Unfortunately, these are the only ones that will work that I've found anywhere, so I'm glad they're available. If these become unavailable, I'm apparently going to have to demolish my entire neighborhood in a few years. br>br>On the most recent one, there is a flaw that causes me to have to thump the fixture to get the lights to turn on, even after flipping the switch. However, this has always worked for me, so I'm still giving it four stars. Once again, thank you for making them available to us. br>br>7/17/2019 UPDATE: From a four-star rating to a single-star rating: These ballasts don't last long; the most recent one, delivered on May 17, 2019, had the above-mentioned features. flaw that has been mentioned. It lasted exactly two months before failing completely yesterday, July 17, 2019. If I do it again, I'll have purchased four of these ballasts in four years. the original, as well as three replacements (I don't recall whether all of the replacements came from the same place. ) This one, however, was the same as the rest. ) Come to think of it, the ballast on the first light fixture was bad, so I had to return it to the store where I bought it and exchange it for this one. If I do it again in four years, I'll have purchased FIVE new ballasts! br>br>I think I'll try customizing it now. This fixture should be fitted with a ballast-free LED bulb. It'll be more expensive and more difficult, but I'll only have to do it once; I'm old, and it's not easy to remove the light fixture and work on it all the time, especially with this particular aquarium. br>br>In case anyone is curious, I always use the appropriate wattage bulbs and turn the lights on and off every morning and evening. That, I believe, should be regarded as commonplace. There is sufficient usage. This has always been the case in my nearly 50 years of keeping multiple aquariums. I've had this style of lights in all of my tanks, and I've never had a problem with them - At the very least, not on the same light fixture more than once. I have a similar aquarium light on the same stand as this one, which is plugged into the same electrical outlet and is used in the same way - It's over 30 years old, and the original ballast is still in it! br>br>Once again - For this particular light fixture, I've gone through four ballasts in four years, and I'm on my fifth. Please consider this and give it some time to sink in before you part with your hard-earned cash. These things don't appear to be manufactured as frequently as they once were.
In order to make more money, Amazon Prime Movie has incorporated HBO into a number of old television shows and films. Corporate greed is the only explanation. Another deceptive method of extracting money from customers' pockets. Furthermore, when I search for something to watch, I am given a price of $2. 99, but if you go to Amazon Primer directly, the price increases by a dollar. You have to pay $3 to participate. br>It's been that way for a long time, and it appears that two-day shipping is no longer available due to the pandemic. This I can understand, but when it's advertised as 2-for-1, I'm not so sure. It's not feasible to wait a day but end up waiting ten days. br>I don't mind making money, but I don't like being singled out to profit from my watching habits. For instance, I adore the show "Deadwood," which I've watched several times since it became available on Amazon Prime. Now that HBO has become a part of my regular viewing routine, I'm being asked to pay. More importantly, I can only watch TV shows from the early 1960s if I pay for them. I've been a customer since 2004, mostly because of the two-day shipping and convenient location. I'd had it with corporate greed for a long time. This will most likely be my final year of accusation against Amazon. Even Jeff Bezos recently stated that nothing lasts forever, and I believe that Amazon is nearing its end.
This was purchased to replace the strip light in my aquarium. The old ballast failed because the bulb was only partially lit and dimly lit. I removed the old ballast and replaced it with a new one (which was relatively simple to do). Getting the wires out of the part where the fluorescent bulb twists into was the most difficult part). Now that the strip light has been installed, it is working perfectly. and it'll set you back less than half the price of a new strip light!.
This is the same ballast that I took out of my under-counter indirect lighting. Obviously closed- before removing the light fixture, make sure the circuit breaker is off. Before installing the new ballast, take a photo of the old ballast wiring; it was quick and easy for me.
This device was delivered to me, but it did not work. I tested it with a multimeter (you can find instructions for this test on YouTube and in articles), and it was indeed defective (there was measurable resistance from the power wire to one of the neutrals, which should have been an open circuit). I returned and requested a replacement (due to the fact that the part is required). Before putting it in place, I gave it a thorough test. Same issue: three neutral wires were "open" when the hot wire was turned on, but one was not (failure). I'll also be returning it. Both parts appeared to have been installed previously, so I'm wondering if they're sending returns back out without testing them first. Anyway, it's a waste of my time, but I'm glad I have the option to return them.
made a couple of old "non-non-non-non-non-non-non working" aquarium lights with these parts and a couple new "bulb holders" and bulbs that I also bought here, and they both worked better than they had ever worked for a tenth of the price of new ones, and it took "limited prior knowledge" and probably half an hour! Yeah!.
Three fluorescent aquarium light starters (but not the bulbs) have died. I've reinstalled two so far, and they're working fine. The wires are connected to the starter from a different side. So I wired the colors together (you'll need some wiring nuts for this - see below). 002 extra small, according to my package), and I've had no issues.
It was a complete failure. For a brief moment, the light turned on, but then went out. To see if it was the bulb, I took it out of the failed fixture. It worked when I put it on a different light fixture. Some of these, as others have stated, are defective. They are not something I would recommend.
