Questions & Answers

Do you want to come along for the ride?

No, despite the fact that it is clearly stated in the description and on the product packaging, which even includes a picture of the square driver bit.

What's the bit's diameter? the part of the drill that goes into it ?

It's a 1/8" bit, with a 1/4" driver side that goes into the drill.

Is it possible to use these with gutters that are 6 inches wide?

Because the ferrule is only 5 inches in diameter and the screw fits through it, it may not work on a 6 inch gutter unless the gutter is 5 inches in diameter at some point.

To drill through the gutters, what size bit should I use? For a brand-new installation. ?

Although the screws are sharp, they are not self-tapping. However, once they get going, they're hard to stop. I've been using a 1/8-inch drill bit and allowing the screw to enlarge the hole.

For replacing spikes, use a screw that is slightly smaller than the original
3/5

Make the most of your time. These were purchased to replace old spikes on a long-run 2nd-story gutter that were pulling out. Pro- cheap. Cons- The screw's diameter appears to be less than that of the existing spikes, and the threaded section would not grab. These screws had such small heads that they went right through the holes in the gutter's outer edge. While up on the ladder, I discovered this the hard way. Isn't it fantastic? I didn't want to re-plaster my gutter because I didn't want to Swiss cheese it. Just to get these crappy screws to work, you'll have to drill a dozen holes. I reinstalled the old spikes and placed an order for FastenMaster screws on Amazon. The difference can be seen in pictures. Quality and more robust specifications are on the way. allowed for the repair to be done with the holes that were already there. In comparison to the plastic spacer, the metal spacer is more durable. plastic. If you're doing repair work, buy the good ones and be done with it. They also make a brown color screw, which I used on another house because it was difficult to find in my area. Take pleasure in it. Thank you for your interest.

Mounting Hardware for Rain Gutters at its Finest
5/5

My rain gutter was beginning to come loose from the eave of my garage, bowing outward; the original nails had been hammered in, but had loosened over time and were no longer holding. These appealed to me because the mounting hardware was screws rather than nails, and the ferrules were hard plastic rather than thin metal tubes split in half. All of the original nails and ferrules were the same length as the rest of the hardware. It was a breeze to swap out the ferrules for new ones and install the new hardware. The screws have white heads and are installed with a supplied 1/8" square head driver that can be used with a 1/4" or 3/8" drill/driver. Despite some other reviews claiming that theirs did not, all three boxes of hardware I purchased included a 1/8" square head driver. It now holds in place as if it were glued in place, which it isn't. However, he was very rigid. A tip. Remove the new screw and insert the pointed end of a zip tie into the ferrule and the hole the screw goes into, then cut off the rest of the zip tie. Then tighten the screw again, and it should hold very tightly when the screw threads come into contact with the zip tie. I highly recommend this hardware for this application. It's truly excellent, and I couldn't find any flaws. It worked great for me, and I only had to buy 35 new screws to complete the task. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat.

The rain gutter is secured by this device
4/5

Screws with a hex head would be far superior. Our first big snow ripped some of the rain gutter off the roof and loosened the rest of the gutter, so we used these 7-inch long screws to repair aluminum rain gutter with concealed gutter hangers, which are popular with contractors but don't last. I secured the gutter to the fascia with Amerimax screws. A three-step process was necessary for each screw: Drill a pilot hole in the aluminum gutter with a drill. Then drill a pilot hole in the fascia board (2x6) with a 10-inch long drill bit. Then secure the screw through the gutter to the fascia with an 18V driver and a soap coated screw. It took everything I had not to round out the star fitting by fully seating these 7 inch screws. The gutters are safe as a result of the work. I'm not sure I'll be able to get enough leverage from a 20-foot ladder to do this. I couldn't find any screws with a HEX head that were 7 inches long.

This is an excellent purchase
5/5

I was given the only package that was available at the time I placed my order. The package had been opened in part and returned to the sender. They're similar to a package of 25 that I received here as well. These screw-in "gutter spikes" are a great alternative to the nail-in spikes that wear out over time. My only complaint is that the included spacers are of low quality plastic that some reviewers have stated will crack and break over time. I reused my slightly smaller diameter aluminum spacers that were on most of my old quarter inch diameter nail type "gutter spikes" and managed to accumulate more than ten spare aluminum tubes, originally for those times when I might manage to mangle or lose one of my spacers for my bought spikes, but now to also replace the plas. br>Davegx is an acronym for "Davegx is an acronym for Davegx is.

The job is done by a gutter screw
5/5

I had some regular gutter "nails" that had become loose over time, so I replaced them with gutter screws. br>Gutter screws are much more durable and don't come loose as easily. I've used gutter screws before and they've worked well. br> These appear to be of good quality, and they should last for a long time. However, only "time" will tell. I would suggest them at this point.

Even on rotted wood, it holds up better than nail hangers, and it comes with a free bit
5/5

Because the screws were slightly fatter than the failed nails, they were used in the same holes as the failed nails and secured well. When the gutter isn't flush with the house and the nail wants to spring backwards instead of puncturing the sheet, it's easier to install than nails. metal. The old product resulted in many lost nails. Screws were a lot easier to use and a lot more secure. Each item necessitates its own level of dexterity. br>br>The screws held the loose gutter to the house and were simple to tighten, made even easier by the well-fitting bit that came with the kit. br>When drilling new holes, there was a minor issue with the screw going through the gutter sheet metal next to the house and pushing the gutter away; this was solved by turning the driver backwards and using it as a drill bit. My father taught me that if you put enough pressure on it, it will catch in the wood. At the top of the ladder, it's a little difficult. br>Excellent product; I would buy it again without hesitation. as well as myself:.

Maintain the level of the screws! It should be able to withstand more wear and tear than a nail
5/5

With the help of a bubble level on the drill, I drilled a 3/16 pilot hole that was perfectly level. You'll have a low spot in your gutter where water pools if it's not level. When it came to driving the screws in the rafter tails, I found a battery impact driver to be extremely useful. If you don't have one, you may need to drill a larger pilot hole.

A new nail type has been added to the mix to replace the old one
5/5

Because they have a larger OD than traditional nails, they fit snugly in old nail holes. Also, because they are a little longer than old nails, they give wood a new bite. In a battery drill, the driver included in the box works great. The plastic spacer on the screw shank was about 1/2" longer than the ones on the old nails, which could have been used by pulling the gutter face out a little, but because they were plastic, they were easy to cut off to match the old spacers. I believe I could now hang from my gutters because I am so strong.
