I learned about this G- On YouTube, you can find a tape from Dr. Decks. He creates high-end decks and generously shares his knowledge. I used it to cover the joists on a large new deck I built. It's of exceptional quality! It comes with release tape and is very well packaged. Because of the excellent packaging, the entire roll can be used. It rips like duct tape and sticks like a champ. It has the perfect amount of adhesion. Once applied, it's extremely long-lasting. The money was well spent. What you pay for is exactly what you get. When you consider how much money it costs to build a nice deck, this is a small price to pay to ensure that it lasts.
We would not have needed to replace our hot tub deck if we had taped it 9 years ago. After you've removed all of the rotted decking, it's time to install the new decking. We used this product on the top edge of all the supporting joists to repair or replace the water damaged joint. It provides a great waterproof barrier to protect against future water resting. causing damage to the wood We also allowed a 1/4" gap between all decking this time. made seam lines away from joists to allow air to circulate Water is used to pass around the boards. This G- It was a pleasure to work with tape. It is simple to set up. Yes, at $30 per roll, it is pricey. It took 5 rolls to cover our 12' x 22' deck. But it will be well worth it if this extra step extends the life of our low-to-the-ground hot tub deck.
My first order of tape rolls didn't have this problem, but recently the backing has started sticking to the sides of the roll, peeling, tearing, and other issues, presumably due to too much tape adhesive on the roll's side. Peeling and picking the backing off is extremely frustrating and time consuming.
Installing a deck's leading edge (to keep moisture and dirt out). This membrane will prevent premature rot in pressure-treated wood. I've used beautiful tape before, but this is a lot easier. Basically, if you can use Duct Tape, you can use this instead of beutyl tape because the adhesive doesn't get all over your hands.
I didn't realize how good it was until we couldn't find it again last week while refinishing a friend's deck. The butyl tape we ended up with was thick, barely adhered, and was generally inconvenient (but a must-have when repurposing old lumber). We were short on supplies, so I dug through my garage and discovered a roll of this brand. Eureka! The difference is night and day, and I felt compelled to write a review because this is a far superior product to the one we were given.
Deck Doctors, who I follow on Instagram, told me about this tape. His work is near-flawless, so I trusted his advice on waterproofing the tops of the deck joists with tape. This tape is simple to apply and can be moved without losing adhesion because it chemically bonds to the wood over time. It tears straight across, which is convenient for placement, and it should last a long time. Would highly recommend for deck applications or other situations where tape flashing is appropriate. It is also available in larger rolls.
