Questions & Answers
It measures 6" in length and 6" in width. I'm not sure how long it was, but you can find it by searching DuPont Flexwrap. This is an excellent product that is the ONLY way to keep moisture out of windows at the bottom sill.
Getting it to stick to the foam will be the challenge. Wrap around the sheathing first, then the foam, and then another layer of flex wrap. Set the foam 1" back from the window, bend the wrap to make contact with the first layer of wrap, and then fold it over the foam. You can overlap the wrap to make it wider, but keep an eye on the water flow and place the lower wrap under the outer layer to prevent water from getting inside.
Sound deadening mats, on the other hand, are a completely different material.
Yes, I suppose you could (the Flex wrap is designed to create window seals), but Dupont Flash Tape would be preferable.

This is a fantastic product from DuPont. I used this to make a sill pan for 13 windows that I installed and it worked perfectly. Flexes in the corners and is extremely sticky. You must ensure that the adhesive sides do not come into contact with each other. It should be able to separate it, but there are splits in the backing that can be removed to help with that. It's something I'd re-use. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
This is what I used for a shower window on the bathroom wall. Inside, rather than outside, I required excellent water protection. Because it flexes and stretches to fit, this product was simple to wrap around the corners. It's very sticky, so once you've got it in place, you won't be able to move it. There are other ways to water proof a window or doorway, but this is the simplest. You wonder if it will do its job once it is covered with concrete board and marble. I can't say how long this will last, but it'll be better than the original installation, which rotted the walls. Due to long-term water damage that was not covered by insurance, 2x4s and wall board had to be torn out.
Even if the cost is high, it could save tens of thousands of dollars in water damage repair costs.
Window sills are a dream come true. It has a lot of flex and is a lot easier to work with than traditional flashing tape. Window sills and window installation necessitate the use of this product.
I exchanged it for a 9" wide roll when I returned it. For a once in a 25-year job, this is truly an amazing product that is well worth the money. New construction has a drum-like moulding around the bottom widow sills.
I had to install a window in 15 degree weather, and even at that temperature, you had better be careful where you put it because it's that sticky. I plan on using it on a corner where I had to patch the OSB and am confident that it will last a long time.
It's a fantastic product, and using a roller to apply it is simple. Very sticky and flexible. For a new construction, I used this on all of my windows, and I'm glad I did.
