I installed it inside a shower wall at the top to let natural light in for the application I used it for I used 1x6 and made a box trimmed around window frame with quarter round it worked great for mounting the window I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to mount this window in any direction the only thing about mounting it sideways is the direction the window opens if you are using it for a vent window it should work fine if you have limited space for a window I hope this has been of assistance to you.
It must be appropriate.

Selected User Reviews For Glass Block Vent - 24x8 Vinyl Hopper Vent
Despite the fact that it was designed to be inserted into a glass block wall, framing it in my wall was a breeze.
After examining other windows, I determined that they were either too large, lacking in privacy, or were prohibitively expensive; however, this small window will be ideal, providing privacy and fresh air while in the bathroom. It appears to be of a high standard. The frosted glass, which is exactly what I was looking for, is particularly appealing to me. It's great that there are two latches on it. I appreciate the inclusion of the screen, which appears to be excellent. I'm going to put the latches on the top so that rain won't get inside. The only feature I'd like to see is a nailing flange. I've never installed a window before, but after framing in the large hole in the wall, I believe I'll be able to do it. I'm glad I came across this at the price I did.
The screens are white, and you can't see through them, which isn't exactly the look I was going for. I wish they wouldn't let the picture fool them. The rough opening size is 24x8 inches, with about 1/4 inch of clear space on all sides. There are no defined mounting holes to screw into. Fortunately, these were purchased solely for the purpose of a shed.
The size of this small window was ideal for my cramped bathroom. It's compact, but well-made, and it comes with a tough screen. This window would be perfect for vans or tiny houses. My handyman commented that it was well-built and simple to open when necessary.
I like the size; the only issue is that it's a little difficult to install due to the small size; however, the person who built my bathroom had to figure out how to do it. To me, the door opened in small pieces. It isn't easy for him, but he manages to pull it off.
A TIGHT SEAL ON THE TOP OF THE WINDOW IS NOT PERMITTED.
Window that is completely solid There are no issues.
The approximate size of the window is 24X8, not the actual size.
