That's what I think. To be sure, I'll take some measurements. Unfortunately, I live in a house that was built in 1979 and has a larger, approx. Siding is 6 inches thick. I simply caulked the inside edge and covered it with a couple of small pieces of wood. They look great, and the lamps are level with the thick, slanted siding.
To be sure, With the provided screws, this can easily be attached to that box.
Simply drill a hole in the back of the mounting kit to fit your wire size.br>Bob S.
I used two wood screws to secure it to my house, then used paintable caulking to seal the outside perimeter. In my case, the back of the 8141DBL was longer than the lap siding on my house, so I had to use a Dremel tool to remove about 3/8" from the back to make it fit. It was simple to do and looks nice, and the light fixtures are simple to put in.

This is a good way to add new lights with a larger base to the outside of a house without having to cut the siding. My siding lap was not aligned with the cutouts. Using a hack saw, I was able to trace the outline onto the mounting block and cut it to fit. br>br>To keep water out of the electrical box, caulk around the top. On the bottom of the block, there is a weep hole that must be left open to allow any water that gets deep inside to escape.
Mounts are incredibly impressive. Unfortunately, my siding is on an angle, rather than horizontal like most, as you can see, but it still fits. I caulked the blocks and molding before painting them. It's great because I didn't have to drill a huge hole for a round electrical box; instead, I drilled a 1/2-inch hole and inserted my 14/2 wire; if you don't want to deal with drilling a huge hole, this is the way to go. I prefer the appearance of a mounting block; it is, in my opinion, more appealing. You will not be disappointed if you purchase it.
I bought a pair of these to replace lights that had been attached directly to siding when the house was built; the builder (all those years ago) did such a poor job that the old lights were essentially held in place by the ton of caulk used to fill the gap between the siding and the base of the fixture. br>br>When I was looking for a mounting solution, I came across these. They've made me very happy. Large enough to hold a carriage-sized piece of hard ABS plastic. outdoor lamp with a unique design The idiot builder had punched a large hole in the plywood beneath the siding, so I had to relocate the lamp. This mount was big enough to accommodate it while also concealing the original siding hole. br>br>I discovered that two coats of paint were required to cover the somewhat shiny plastic adequately.
This kit includes everything you'll need to mount the mounting block to the outside of a 1/2-inch piece of lap vinyl. It completely encloses the metal box that houses the outside electrical outlet. With its built-in wiring box, it allows for wiring right inside the mold. After that, your light attaches to the sturdy mounting block directly. It's very easy and convenient. I'm going to order two more for the front of my house because it worked out so well for me. Note: It does not come with any of the light's hardware. The light manufacturer would be the one to provide that.
I was wondering "where have these been" when I needed them after seeing them here. My home is made of aluminum siding, and we recently decided to repaint it. The existing light fixtures were screwed into the siding of the house. They were always hung at an awkward angle and looked terrible. They were uneven and extremely flimsy. When I first learned about this product, I immediately placed an order for it. They were very easy to paint with regular exterior paint, and they were very easy to install through the existing siding. The heavy light fixtures that I installed fit perfectly, are level, and are very solid. This is an excellent product, and you won't find it in the big box stores in the various sizes available.
It was EXACTLY the right size for my 4" x 1/2" siding. There's no need for an electric box, siding cuts, or a 4" hole in the wall. Simply drill a 1/2" hole through which to feed your Romex, and you're done! br>br>These were actually spray painted to match the siding on my house. It turned out to be absolutely stunning. Definitely recommended!br>.
For large lights on siding, this is a great mounting block. It was a perfect fit for my siding, as you can see in the photos. The wires came through a small hole in my siding, which I caulked, so there was no need to caulk around the block. It's a nice Brite white color that can be painted if necessary, but I didn't need to. It was a perfect match!.
I haven't had the opportunity to install it because I need to modify the mount to fit my siding. The mount is well-made and appears to be the closest match in terms of size, color, and shape. It does not appear to be made of cheap plastic, and it appears to be sturdy. Those who believe this mount will fit their siding right out of the box without measuring are completely wrong! It's important to keep in mind that siding comes in a variety of sizes, profiles, and styles. Don't give it a one or two star rating just because you didn't check it. You could just use popsicle sticks and duct tape to create your own mount! br>br>I gave it four stars because I tried a Hail Mary and hoped it would fit, despite the fact that I knew I would probably have to cut it up. It would have been a miracle and a 5 star rating all day if it had fit right out of the box.
