Questions & Answers

It can seal brick around our cooking range, but how do we use this?

Can be done, but if the brick is very porous, then there are better sealers to choose from.

My Tenax sealers work great for granite, but now I need to seal slate flooring as well. Do you think this sealer is right for the job?

Slate will be a good fit for this.

If it is frozen, is it still good? My package arrived in my mailbox in temperatures in the single digits thanks to the US Postal Service. The frozen nature of it. What the heck?

Since it is an oil-based product, it won't freeze. It will thicken when it gets cold, but if you get it back to room temperature and use it on stone that is at room temperature, it will work fine.

The Proseal and Hydrex have been purchased- These both work well, but Proseal will protect against oil and grease
5/5

A product called Hydrex and a product called Proseal were purchased While both of these are excellent products, the Proseal saves your surface from both water and grease and oil. I started my project by testing both products on a scrap piece of granite that we had lying around. Initially, I used the proseal for half of the piece and the hydrex for the other half. It seemed to me that the hydrex side had a smoother finish- It felt like it had no tack, where the proseal felt more "tacky," which is too good a word to use, as the granite and product were both I just didn't find it to be as smooth as the Hydrex side.
Once again, different products protect against different things. The difference is that Hydrex is designed for water, whereas Proseal is designed for oil and water. I decided to put the hydrex over the proseal on my test piece to see what would happen. Both sides of the paper were nicely smooth once dry. Based on the results of the test, I decided to use the proseal as a base layer, and the hydrex as a smooth finishing layer. *When I installed our entire kitchen counter top, I found the application process to be quite straightforward. In light of the suggestions found online, I donned nitrile gloves and applied the sealer with my hands only. Maintaining the wetness of the sealer as we work it across our granite countertops. When it has been a while (maybe a decade) I used a cloth to wipe the countertops down (remove the excess) and allowed the countertops to dry for about 15 minutes. Using water as a test, I analyzed the app. It had a complete beading and did not penetrate. As far as oil/grease is concerned, I have not tested it. In addition to making sure that I applied thoroughly around the stove and sink You might even need to repeat the process at those locations twice. As a result, I am very happy with this product and would certainly purchase it.

I didn't think or wish for this to be as good as it was

The update is Having trouble figuring out why the photos were posted in the wrong order after

So that's it. It was the same Tenax Hydrex my installer had used on our new countertop that enhanced the color of the stone the most. However, I returned it after trying it on a sample piece of granite and it did not enhance the color as advertised or as much.

After buying this again and running a test I realized I was wrong, and I feel so stupid now. Our granite countertop installer used Tenax Hydrex when installing the countertop, and they recommended we use it every six great as soon as it was installed as it enhanced the color of the new polished granite. And the online reviews were so positive for both Tenax Hydrex and Tenax Proseal, so I purchased the two at a much higher price than from other US The following tests were performed using Tenax Proseal and Tenax Hydrex, as well as the Micracle Sealant "511 Seal & Bond. " When I decided to purchase the foreign brand "Enhance", I was extremely disappointed. I sealed a piece of granite of the same type as my countertop (from my installer) exactly how each manufacturer instructed. The sealants were also left to fully cure for the required 24 hours. Following that, I poured a large drop of red wine and a large drop of coffee over every piece of sealant protected granite and let it sit for 3 hours. Take a look at the following photo (minus the pink sticky labels) for proof that these staining techniques work It is stained with left over stains when Tenax Proseal is applied A middle stain can be seen on the Miracle Sealant (Rustoleum) 511 Seal & Seal Those stains can be seen on the Tenax Hydrex on the right. Having wiped off and cleaned all the staining liquids after 3 hours, I then used water to rinse. As you can see in the photo, the pink labels are so distinctive. In terms of performance, the 511 Seal & Watertight was the best Enhancement of the rustoleum surface with no visible stains whatsoever (middle section of the Taking a look at the test result in the photo, the next best seal is the Tenax Proseal with just a very faint pinkish hue where the wine spot was placed (left portion of the sample). The wine stain on the Proseal section was hardly visible in person, and I am not sure if it can be seen in the picture, but I was only able to observe it under bright light. On the right in the photo is Tenax Hydrex (the worst) It was easy to see the pink stain from the wine in person and couldn't be avoided in the photo, although it was slightly less pronounced. The Tenax stuff I used to use is no longer useful to me. Turns out I should have stayed with Rustoleum, as I always grew up using it. There was no staining associated with any of the sealants I tested - all of them were successful. In none of the three sealed compartments, there was anything visible from the coffee.

I love it! It worked well to seal the granite
5/5

With the application, I decided to bring out the character of the granite a bit. Make sure you wipe the granite tops really well with a wet, soapy rag after you install them. You should let the sealer completely dry before you apply it. When applied for the first time, it can be very strong, so ensure that adequate ventilation is available. Small areas are to be done at a time. There aren't many details in the instructions. A sloppy translation of the Italian original to English turned it into an American publication. * There is a note that says to "wait a few minutes" before wiping it off after applying. "A few minutes" is what you mean "a few minutes". Can you tell me how long it takes? One minute, two minutes, five Initially, I applied the solution to a larger surface, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then tried to wipe it away. That's a shame! It took too long to get it. Our granite surface, where we spread the material, was left with wipe marks since it dried pretty fast. That shouldn't be a problem. Using a dampened rag soaked in the sealer solution, we applied it to the dry areas, and the sealer solution diluted the dryness and softened it. As a result, we learned to cover small areas (4' x 4' feet), and we only had to wait about 1 minute for the paint As it was, I was able to get the job done. A second coat was applied after waiting 2 hours after the first The dry products were left overnight to dry. Does it take 10 hours (10)? I am happy with how well the sealer works. The staining liquids were dripped on inconspicuous places to see if they would stain. There were no stains on the granite. It will last 6 months to a year, according to the instructions. Ultimately, there is no way to know for sure. It would appear that heavy use areas of the granite need to be refinished after six months, and areas that get little use would require up to a year. It has been a pleasure so far working with the product. A quart was enough for two coats, so we purchased that in addition to the blue paint. Despite its incredible durability, we let our neighbor use it to paint his granite island and counters twice with it. Among the coats that have to be done in the 6 month and one year time frames, there are still a few more to be done. ) So far, I have been happy with the product.
