Questions & Answers

Is this a one-channel or two-channel cloplay garage door?

This is for a door with only one channel. Making an "O" with the rubber so that the two edges are back to back is required. Then, using your garage door's channel, glide through. There were no issues at all. The image is correct.

Is this going to fit in the second round of the race?

No, it's designed for Clopay doors, not round two-track doors.

How long is this gasket supposed to last?

length of 18 feet

What exactly is the purpose of the filler rope?

The top folds together to fit into the door channel, so there is no filler rope.

Perfect!
5/5

I was about to buy the generic weatherstrip from Lowe's, but I decided to take a chance and see if Clopay had a proprietary product, and I'm glad I did. My seventeen-year-old daughter is The old weatherstrip had become brittle and crushed. Without a hitch, this replacement was installed. In addition, I bought some foam rope (from Amazon) and inserted it into the weatherstrip to give it some stability. It couldn't have gone any more smoothly. Before you begin, lubricate the track with spray lithium grease.

There was no way I was going to slide
5/5

This did not work for me when I tried to slide it down the track. At all. I tried several times, but there was simply too much friction, even with silicone and white lithium, to slide this seal all the way down because my track only had a lip on one side. Instead, I discovered that inserting one side of the rubber seal on the track lip and using a dulled flat scraper (screwdriver, putty knife, etc) to tuck the other rubber side into the track using a slight scooping motion was the best solution. This method worked much better for my type of track, and it only took me about ten minutes to finish the entire 16-foot length of my double garage door by myself. br>br>I'm sure sliding it will work best for most people, but if you have a track channel like mine with one side flat and the other with a lip, this method may save you time and effort, especially if you're working alone.

Rubber is excessively thick
3/5

To fit into the slot of your garage door gauge, you must squeeze the two ends together. The rubber is not glued together in order to fit into the garage door's bottom slot. br>br>As a result, the product did not fit my garage door, I did not use it, and I requested a return within three days. It was only $18 for the whole thing. 47 and when the return was requested, it was suggested that they take 20% of the purchase price and that I would have to pay for shipping to return it as well. CHECK TO SEE IF THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU BEFORE ORDERING. br>br>To fit into the slot of your garage door gauge, you must squeeze the two ends together. It's easy to set up
5/5

It was rolled up - It was unrolled and cut to a length that was slightly longer than the width of the door. After removing the old seal's remnants (a slow job), simply slide in the new one - Ideally, two people would do it, but I did it alone, trimmed it to the length I needed, and the job was done - is adaptable enough to seal the bottom of the door to the concrete.

Clopay Garage Doors - SINGLE TRACK OLDER STYLE This item is only for Clopay garage doors of the older style
4/5

Before you place an order, make sure you know what track you're on. br>Delivered ahead of schedule and in good condition. Although there are no instructions, the installation is fairly simple. br>Material appears to be a little thinner than the previous one I removed. The rubber seal appears to be of good quality and is very pliable. br>The most difficult part of my installation was removing the old seal from the track. My old seal, which was 24 years old at the time, was hard and stuck on the track. I had to take out the aluminum track and clean it up a little before spraying silicone on it and installing the seal. On an 8-foot door, it's relatively easy. In my case, the track is held in place by a few self-tapping screws, so it was simple to remove. If yours are rusted, I recommend getting new ones and possibly going up a screw size. To keep the seal from moving, a screw may be installed at the bottom of the track. Mine had it, and the head was extremely rusted, so I had to use a screw extractor to remove it. br>I have a single and a double door on my property. The procedure is the same for the double door, but it will go more quickly if you have assistance because one person will pull on the seal while the other guides it in. br>Be careful not to bend the double door track when removing it from the garage door. I had to manhandle the old seal and cut it open with a blade to remove it. That will almost certainly be the most difficult aspect of the installation. I won't say it was simple to set up, but with a little time and patience, it's doable. br>As some have suggested, I did not need to use backer rod. I bought two double four deals because the difference between the single and double price is only about $5, and I have an extra 8 foot in case I need it later. Last but not least, leave an inch or two on each end because the seal may shrink slightly, and I find that it seals the gap between the door and the wall much better. br>It's not a five-star rating because the seal is significantly thinner than my previous one. The only way to find out is to wait. I bought from Unique Supply, one of the sellers. br>Best of luck to you.

It was as if they were made for each other
5/5

This seal fit perfectly on our polebarn's older Clopay overhead door with a single track, which we bought in 1998. My wife assisted me in installing this seal, and we discovered that it was easier to remove the wheel brackets from the bottom panel and swing the bottom panel down to clear the side tracks. Following the advice of another Amazon reviewer (thank you), we cleaned and lubricated the bottom single track. Our door was 10' long, and this seal was 18' long. As a result, we had about 8' of extra material. The best part is that we paid less for this 18-foot seal than our local overhead door company wanted for a 10-foot seal. The same Amazon reviewer also recommended pulling an 1 1/8" foam rope (thank you again), so we ordered the foam at the same time as the seal. We discovered that we couldn't get the foam rope through the loop in the seal that had been installed - So we used a shop vacuum to pull a thin nylon rope through the seal channel, tied it to the foam rope, and easily pulled it through. We are extremely pleased with the seal's quality and the final project's appearance.

I was able to get it to work
5/5

So far, there have been no problems since I replaced my old gasket. I had to take off the metal track that holds the gasket from the door, place it on the floor, and cut off the old gasket with a sharp blade before pulling the rest of the old gasket out of the track. It was simple to reinstall; simply line up the ends, slide them into the track, and trim to length (leave 1/2 inch extra on each side in case it shrinks later). To avoid bending the track, I had my wife assist me in holding it up during removal and reinstallation. It has a great appearance and accomplishes the task at hand.
