Worked well initially but they don't last. My old model keypad was not compatible with the new opener so I went to get a new keypad for the new one. After buying three keypads of this type in the last seven years, I will be buying a fourth. These models have been shown to be smarter than those using intellicode, but none of them are as Neither of the previous keypads works anymore, and I suspect that weather penetration is to blame, since the batteries aren't sealed well as they should be, especially around the battery compartment, as the metal in that area is corroded when I remove the old keypad. In the end, since this is the only model that is compatible with my Genie garage door mechanism, I am compelled to purchase another of the same model since there have not been any design improvements since the last one. As far as installation is concerned, installation of the backplate is not difficult, as two screws are needed for the backplate and the keypad is snapped into place with one snap. As far as programming is concerned, it is also not difficult. Then you can hit the numbers you want. Type the programming code and then hit the numbers When the opener has learned the code, you should start it to learn your code and up/down until it does. There is a quirk in the keypad that allows you to type any key to reopen, stop, or close a door within a few seconds after entering your code. The issue only occurs for a few seconds after the code becomes active. I am not sure if that is a safety measure or a programming flaw. As far as the keypad goes, it works fine for the most part, but just don't expect it to last more than 3 years or so before it needs to be replaced, as it's not made to withstand long term exposure to rain and other elements. I rate this product 3.

There were too many inconsistencies in the instructions, since the keypad did not respond as it should have. I then searched on the internet (Genie) and on YouTube, which led me in different directions. Although I followed their directions to the "T", it didn't work. This comes set for Intellicode 2 which are very new styles of openers, as other reviewers have mentioned. Inellicode 1 is probably needed by most people, as it was for me. In spite of the directions, the unit would not move from Intelligence 2 to Intelligence 1, or even take a PIN as the unit did not come prepared At last, completely frustrated, I called the Genie help line and was told that the instructions had a typo and they were not able to work as they did not Thanks to the keypad lid, the number is easily visible. It took about 15 minutes to talk with someone (hard to believe so many people need help), but we finally got through, and the nice woman told me how to turn off that and how to scroll through the keypad, which was not in any directions or tutorial She had me hold the "Program" button and the "Up/down" button at the same time for five seconds, and I could see immediately that it If you wish to program a PIN, press 3 You must enter your PIN when you press "Program" on step 7. You should wait for 30 seconds after you close the cover. If you wish to change from Intellicode 2 to 1 please press the "Up/Down" button and then press the "Program" button until it turns red, then once again close the cover. When I tried to sync it, it automatically worked right away. I followed the normal instructions to sync it. It would not have been necessary to place the call if the unit had come ready to program or the directions were correct.

I gave this product three stars due to the time I invested and the frustration with the direction that was not accurate and the unit that came not being "cleared for use. ". Once I was able to resolve the issue with tech support, I gave the product itself five stars since it works flawlessly thereafter. Genie's instructions should have explained these steps correctly, so it would have been a pleasant experience from start to finish.

I have two Genie garage door openers that are over a decade old, and the new keypad programmed to both openers by default. In place of the usual four digits, the user has the option of setting a PIN between 3 and 8 numbers. How can only four stars be given? Currently, only the numbers 2, 5 & 6 are illuminated on the backlit keypad Also, it would be nice if there were an easier way to easily illuminate the keys at night, but you have to press a number to do so. A PIN is a combination of your name and your birthdate. So, if you start with the incorrect number, you'll eventually get an error, and you will see the light flashing for a few seconds, then going off. It is possible to hit the up/down key, but the error indicator starts flashing immediately, after which the error goes away. The illumination cannot be seen during the day as well. When you miss a payment, you will have a chance to make it up. If you type the PIN during the day, you will not see the flashing error light. NOTE

Depending on previous experience, it may be best to mount the keypad so that it is not always exposed to It will take a toll on the keypad's plastic otherwise. You will have to replace it sooner rather than later if you continue to live in the midday sun. As soon as the cover breaks off, it falls away. Make sure you mount it in such a way that it will at least be protected from strong winds and other weather conditions. You will be able to extend its lifespan by protecting it.

These are flaws that will later become issues. As a plus, I think this was the easiest keypad remote to program, and I appreciate that it works with up to three doors at once. Here is what I have found to be the down side of other search engines I have 1) There is only one code stored in the device. The option of adding a second temporary code is technically available, however it will be removed once the primary code has been Sending the code through text with friends or delivery people is not very intuitive because the "Up/Down" button is not suitable. You can text "1 2 3 4 ENTER" instead of typing it all. 3) The giant "PROGRAM" button is worthless once the unit is initially programmed, and it is confusing for others in the future. 4) By holding the "PROGRAM" button for a short time, the memory of the unit will get wiped, which can be done by a bored kid. In other words, it's not a very good option if you plan to send your code to your friends or to packaging companies.

To set the remote to the Inclined Code I mode, set it to the Intellicode There is an Intellicode II version shipped with the device. For some reason, I couldn't figure it out right away. When using the Intellicode II mode, the LED will be green whereas when using the Intellicode I one mode, it will be red.
