Before you do anything, read the instructions. br>br>Having dealt with remote controls before, I never expected to have to read the instructions. So, as soon as I noticed the metal clips had come loose from the unit, my instinct was to replace them. I slid them on without thinking about it. br>br>Then I noticed that the programming area for the remote is UNDER the metal clip covers. Furthermore, the clip mechanism prevents the clip from being removed from the remote again. I tried to pry and force the product open without damaging it, but I couldn't. br>br>As a result, I've just squandered money. These remotes are useless because I am unable to program them. I can't say it's the company's fault, but having the ability to remove the clip like other remotes would be nice. It's entirely my fault. br>br>However, these remotes are now useless, and I'll have to purchase them again.
The manual that came with the remotes is incomplete. The LiftMaster video's instructions aren't thorough enough. You'll need to combine both sets of instructions to program these remotes for a LiftMaster opener: WITH THE GARAGE DOOR CLOSED, START THE PROGRAMMING PROCESS.
1. To turn on the opener's LED light, press the Learn button on the back of the unit.
2. The LED light on the front of the remote will turn on if you press the button on the back of the remote.
3. The light on the opener will flash three times if you press and release the button you want to program three times.
4. To complete the programming, press one of the other buttons.
5. The garage door can be opened with the help of the remote.
These were purchased to be used in a rental property. I noticed that some people were having trouble following the instructions for getting their systems to sync. I didn't use the instructions that came with it; instead, I simply followed the check list on the back of my garage door opener, and the remotes synchronized perfectly the first time.
When I bought this product, I was concerned that a) installation would necessitate an engineering degree and b) the frequency range would be similar to that of a 1970s low band FM station. br>br>This item arrived in good condition. br>br>NOT A LIFTMASTER PRODUCT; it is a generic opener that works as well as the original. br>br>EASY TO CONNECT TO THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER AND HAS GOOD TRANSMITTER REACH SO I CAN OPEN THE GARAGE DOOR AS I ENTER THE ALLEY WITHOUT NEEDING TO BE UP ON THE DOOR TO CONNECT. br>br>NOT A LIFTMA.
I couldn't get it to work using the instructions provided; I had to use the Liftmaster instructions and it worked fine after that. br>I'm also curious about how to change the batteries when they're needed; I couldn't get the remote to open up. If I hadn't needed it right away, I probably wouldn't have kept it.
This purchase went off without a hitch. It arrived on time, was simple to install, and cost less than half as much as the branded unit. It has made me very happy.
My garage door openers are both Chamberlain. The first is a model from the late 1990s, while the second is brand new. These remotes were simple to set up and work well so far (2 months), and they cost less than half of what a Chamberlain remote would.
It's compatible with Craftsman openers and is extremely simple to set up. Simply read and follow the remote's instructions as well as the instructions on the back of the opener.
