It wouldn't work because the fascia board is only 5/8" thick however, these fasteners are counter-sunk so you can put a plug in the screw hole to fill any gaps. As a result, the screw would not be able to grab a hold of the fascia board.

When I was working on a large deck project that included trex decking, I ended up using an array of fasteners. When I used the hidden fastener between the boards, a starter clip could not be used in certain spots because odd shapes were too loose to keep them down. Those are the ones we are dealing with here. These brackets came with the attachment needed to pre drill the plug which sits on top of the screw which pulls the board down tightly into the frame. It occurred to me that if you did not hammer the plug into the hole properly, it would start coming out after a few days, so be aware of that. I would also suggest you get a small plug size rod or something that can hit the plug a little more precisely. In my opinion, they blend in perfectly with the deck, you have to look closely at them to see them, they are really hidden within the area that a casual observer would not notice. I know that spending so much on screws seems excessive, but I think the end result is amazing.
These are the ones I used to access hard-to-reach areas and on the stairs of my new deck. These work well in areas where clips aren't possible. We use clips for the majority of the boards, but these work well for the others. The only downside is that there are occasions when they don't catch and spin out. Overall, the concept is wonderful.
It is easy to drive these screws because in a single step the plug is driven and the screw is driven. Those plugs are exactly the same as the ones on the Trex Havana Gold. The plugs are hard to find, so I have to hunt for them.
The screws are easy to use, but they are expensive. The heads will strip if you remove them, so do not reuse them. It looks good when the work is finished.
These screws are excellent. The matching screws are nearly invisible when used with the pegs.
The product does what it says it does.
According to expectation, it worked out well. Composite boards made with this product are excellent.
