It is true. Top of Bora Centipede attaches to base at six points, is quite heavy, and is quite solid. It isn't necessarily true that the hinge at the hinge end of the worktop will be flat if the ground is too uneven, but it is true that the feet of the base may wobble if the ground is uneven. Bora table tops are excellent purchases and I am very happy with them.

To cover the 4x4 Bora Centipede workbench, I ordered two tabletops. Due to the limited number of struts on the 4x4 Centipede (9 per strut), the device cannot secure all 12 corner/edge points on the 2 tabletops when mounted on the 9-element legs. Organize Centipedes on the struts. A few points are unsecured between the 2 tabletops on 3 of the 4 tabletop points. It is not possible to share strut clamps between two tables. So you will need to choose which 9 of the 12 points on the 2 tabletops you want to secure with the 9 pillars (each pillar will require a secure clamp). There may be some shifting of the tabletops in some areas because of this less than completely stable structure. In general, I would say that the structure is 85% steady, which may not matter in the end depending on what you need. Though not sturdy, the Centipede system is still a fantastic idea that isn't greatly affected by its lack of durability. It's easy to disassemble and assemble the Centipede because it's portable, light, spacious, and easy to move into and out of my garage workshop because of the two tabletops atop the structure. Nevertheless, buyers should know that two tabletops may not fit perfectly on the Centipede table because it is a square. On the tables, three clamping points will be unclamped.
As a disabled builder, it's hard for me to do many things. A few fold up bench ideas have been kicking around in my head The tops of the bottoms should be removable so they may be hung or stored when not being used. My heart sank when I found such an affordable bench with bench dog holes that is shipped FREE with prime to my door right to my doorstep. In addition, the hinge will make everything even easier to handle. In my plans, I had thought about using a hinge I had not realized that it would make the already difficult task of 'perfect placement of dog holes' even more challenging. When this BORA comes along with its amazing & amazing The hinges are strong, and it unfolds easily I'm very pleased with the alignment of the dog hole! The dog hole has been drilled to 3/4". I want metric for the second. Thus, when I see a sale or discount on one of the amazing bench dogs & accessories, I will know exactly if it is a good one If the dog hole accessories (handicap aids to me) are only available in metric or imperial, I can still take advantage of a good price. Please take a look at this woodworking bench with dog holes if you have been thinking about it. This is a great buy! It's the best portable top you can buy if all you want is a top! This is egt.
It all started when I laid my hands on the Bora Centipede (2' x 4' model) at my neighborhood Home Depot. I also own the Kreg Mobile Project Center & Cabinet as well as the Kreg RT SYM. As a Kreg Track Horse owner for about three years, I thought it would make sense to combine my impressions and experiences for this post
I have owned the Kreg Mobile Project Center for a number of years. Generally, I tend not to use these as my primary work surfaces/saw horses, but I use them in a variety of unique situations and as a secondary work area when Due to the height limitations of Kreg Project Center, this is mainly due to the design. There is one detraction on the Project Center that leaves me the most angry The 31 1/2" height. Because I am abnormally tall (6'5"), ignore or deny this complaint! *I disclaim that I am abnormally tall. This workcenter is one of the products I purchased with my own money the track saw at Lowe's, the Bora at Home Depot, and the Track Saw through This is my own opinion, based on my own experience, and I am not compensated in any way. My apologies if the format is a little confusing or inconsistent since I am not really sure what structure will work best for this post. I am
HEIGHT In each case, I would like to emphasize and expand on the height of Neither of them can be adjusted. It is possible to adjust the height of the track saw. The Position Center and Track Horse cannot be paired together to create a larger work surface while Track Horse provides adjustable height. Kreg made a huge mistake here, in my humble opinion. A bit more weight would've been added if the legs had been adjustable, but I doubt it would have been enough to detract from the product. Accordingly, the Track Horse's height can be adjusted, and I find that at the highest setting it is comfortable to use. There is no adjustment available for the Bora Centipede The work surface sits at a very comfortable height with the addition of Bora's 6" risers the work surface is a very nice height with them. Although I would need to check, I don't think they make any other size risers (say 3" and 9"). It would be helpful to Bora to consider manufacturing a solution for other potential applications or user CLICK HERE TO SEE WEIGHT OF WORK AREA There is no doubt that the project center is the most complex Since the Track Horse footprint is obviously a saw horse footprint, this isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison. It is 2' x 4' for the Bora and just over 2' wide for the Kreg The dimensions are about 5") x just over two". 31’ wide (101. Project Center is the heaviest of three, at 5") in length. Please note that the Project Center and Track Horses are two pieces at the same time, where as the Bora is one There is a separation between top and bottom. These features are All of these products have various features and, because there are too many to list, I will focus on those I use or that I find innovative. The first thing that stands out when using the Project Center is the option to clamp the materials together. A track runs across the width of the Project Center and Track Saw, but some have a "key hole" slot on the side where vertical clamping can be achieved. Work on the edge of a board is easier when it is equipped with this feature. Dog holes and predrilled holes were installed in the Project Center so that the M4 pocket hole jig could be installed. When the situation calls for it, I can also mount and unmount a lightweight vise using the predrilled holes. As well as dog holes, the Bora Centipede features a solid work surface. This is where I want to take a moment to clarify what I may have assumed is known about the centipede. This base collapses when its base collapses. As an alternative to the standard work surfaces provided by Bora, you may use sheet goods you already have in your home. A work surface is not absolutely necessary for the centipede to function. brackets that can be attached to a portion of the tabletop, for example to create a surface for cutting larger materials or to use as an outfeed I'll get back to the features now. There are no dog holes on the Track Horse. This is not an attack on the Track Horse, as everyone knows. Designed as a single work surface, it cannot be a full-fledged It is a saw horse that can be adjusted in height. Depending on the application, the Kreg Project Center and Track Horse can be used individually or combined into a pair. Similar formatting can be found on the Centipede, though it is different from the Centipede. By using the brackets, you could simply add a second 2x4 and cut through that. There is the option to expand the work surface dimensions through the Kreg options, but at the expense of half the surface area of the Project Center table. By adding a 3/4" piece of plywood, mfd, or any other material, which is supported by 2x4's, we can make this frame. The Kreg brackets can be placed between any combination of 2x4's. A Project Center, part 2 of 2 Either a horse for each track or two horses for each track. As though I am not using a great deal of weight on the expanded work surface, I often do not bother with the runners and just use a piece of 3/4" ply between the Project Center and Track Horse. As far as I know, there is no way to combine two Centipedes to make a single, larger The manufacturers at Bora make a 4'x8' version, which is suitable for those who need a larger footprint on a regular basis. Bora Centipede's storage bag is one of the biggest annoyances I have with it. My call to Affinity Toolworks, the company that owns Bora, was answered by them saying they were working on a solution for this problem. I find it frustrating that the bag provided does not fit the installation of 6" risers, and no bags can be purchased at the moment. When they are working in a 45′′ ID bag to fit their work- For the simple reason that I don't want to spend $20 or more on a carry bag, I will remain dissatisfied. stands, the kit I ordered for the Centipede 2'x4" top did not include a carry bag for the folding top as part of it. The bag is available for $45 on Amazon as of the time of my Instead of spending 45 dollars on a carry bag, I'm looking for a 45" ID bag on Amazon that costs about 20 dollars. One of the major pluses for me is that all come fully assembled, which is pretty awesome in today's day and age. I also love the style of the rocker handles on the Track Horse which enable you to depress the locking detents. You can open and close the Project Center within seconds, and its operation is intuitive.
USE Thankfully, all of these items work like you'd expect. The base of the Project Center and its weight provide a very stable platform. This applies to the track horse as well. While the top of the Centipede is very stable, the Centipede is similar to what happens if you expand the Kreg solutions and don't secure the work surface to the 2x4 support, so bumping it can force the work surface to roll Although I haven't gotten it to fall off completely, it is clearly possible. In order to solve this issue, I glued some non-slip carpet underlay to the tops of my risers, but there are other options. As a matter of fact, Bora makes a clamp that comes with some of the kits to hold the desktop up. This solution works well for me since I find the camel gets in the way of my work. * * WARNING* Kreg places warning labels around the Project Center, yet I have still managed to pinch my hand and fingers in the folding top on a few occasions. If they add a lock or I bungee the tabletops shut, then I will not pinch my hand, but I have had occasions where I've laid the Project Center down flat and picked it up in the process. The problem could be fixed by Kreg, but I won't knock them for it since it is clearly the fault of the user. This value is Listed below are the features of the package A Kreg comes with clamps, dogs, and brackets to help you expand out your work space. I regularly see Bora sold or offered with multiple Bora accessories that can be purchased separately or for a small fee. These Bora accessories can range from non-slip pads to clamping solutions to Costs
*Costs In the Project Center & Track Saw package, both pieces are sold as a With its versatility, the Bora Centipede is able to be purchased just the base, which can then be used with a standard sheet of plywood or other, or it can be used with the 2x4 clamps (accessory) as a modified surface. If I were only able to choose one. . . Well, suffice to say that the modularity, features, and accessories provided by both solutions makes a decision on which solution to choose difficult. The Centipede is lighter In addition, it affords a larger surface area (a Bora or homemade type of bale). In comparison to the Kreg, the Kreg is lower in height, but more stable. Cost-wise, the centipede (without top) is 70% of the cost of the track horse, and 50% of the cost of the project center. Compared to the Centipede, the Centipede is easier to transport, but it lacks a vertical clamping solution (without modifications). It's a pity that Centipede bags are so disappointing. The Centipede accessories, and I could have mentioned this a bit earlier, are as "universal" as the Kreg's accessories. This means I cannot use them with anything else but the Centipede However Kreg makes an accessory called a Clamp Base, which lets you attach the Kreg clamp to almost any worksurface (provided you do not mind making a hole in it or use a countersurface that already features.
For those of you contemplating purchasing, it might help to hear what I have to say. The only part that's not wood is a piano hinge on a piece of 3/4" MDF. The only reason I would not have bought it if I knew it was MDF. You won't be able to use that material for very In this aspect, they don't even break the edges, they simply do not make any effort. Take the time to make it yourself, rather than paying for it. The best you can hope for is saving yourself money and disappointment by knowing what you can do instead.
I purchased the 4x8 prior to Bora purchasing the rights. I love it. Versatile, simple, easy to use, and great at the job site. Although I loved it, there were some applications where it was too low. 36" tall work bench is ideal for using chop saws or sanding since one does not have to bend over and there is less back strain. Honestly, the worktop is fantastic for sanding and carving you can fit dog holes in the benchtop and the non-skid pads are great for bench dogs.
At this price and given the fact that it is just an expensive addition to a set of legs that costs more than half a grand, I thought it would be at least as long as the legs themselves. I thought it would last and be durable, but it isn't! In my opinions, the hinges are rather cheap and will probably need to be replaced soon. The material of the hinges is quite fragile, and the fact that it's all perforated throughout the whole device makes precision impossible. This is mostly because of the rather inventive yet completely useless clamps. First of all, it is long and tedious to set up, it takes SIX different clamps to secure it to the legs, they are difficult to screw in and to remove, I wouldn't set it up for a quick usage from time to time, because it takes so long. Bora, as a company, should have made a better product considering they charged me over $150 for both pieces, but they did not. I found the experience to be very disappointing.
