Questions & Answers

Do you think this will work with dual elements?

You can use it to control the upper element and to cut off the power in an emergency. It replaces a heating element with upper and lower elements on a standard heater.

Can you tell me about the range of operations?

This product did not have a range rating, but it melted in about 5 minutes, almost causing a fire. I do not recommend this product.

How do I know if this fits the Whirlpool E2F30LD035V?

Water heaters that have a specific fitting to hold it on the surface do not fit this unit since it is not universal in its use. search for the parts for your unit and this component does not appear, you can try to order it. The problem is that I don't understand

Is the Eco supposed to reset itself or do I have to do something if it does not?

Using the red reset button, you reset your computer. It clicks when it is turned on.

This is the exact replacement part for an upper thermostat on a Sears water heater
5/5

It bears the W10A 9001954- identification number We have an upper electric thermostat for our water heater marked WH10A, so this was obvious to be the part that we needed to replace it. Westinghouse, State Select, and many other brands use this thermostat -- as does the lower thermostat marked WH9 or WH9-A. This thermostat has a long shaft for knobs that are exposed in the lower section. The operation of the WH10A is as follows The upper heating element is energized until it reaches the desired water temperature All power is then transferred to the thermostat and element located at the bottom. A brief overview of the WH9 Electricity is applied to the lower heating element until the temperature set is reached, at which point it is turned A typical temperature range is from 110 to 140 depending on personal preferences, so set the dials on each thermostat to the same temperature. There is no guarantee that what you read on each thermostat will be correct, so you must rely more on A thermometer with an infrared tip (point & needle) Unlike the dial type, the digital readout (shoot type) is very useful in checking water temperatures, as it can show you the temperature of tap water immediately, or the temperature of steel on the outside of the hot water tank adjacent to the lower thermostat when the cover is off. When we set the WH10A thermostat half-way between "B" and "C", we got 120 degrees of hot water. It is not possible to electrify more than one heating element at a time, since the timer would trip due to the current drawing exceeding 7200 watts, which would damage the circuit breaker. An electrical circuit wired with 240 volts, 30 amps, ten gauge, has a maximum power capacity of 7200 watts. In our water heater, for instance, we would need 9,300 watts for both elements to work. Some common symptoms of a failing water heater include the following 1 .

2. Hot water does not reach a sufficient temperature Please note. You have set both thermostats too low, or one of them is You may also. Lower thermostat shuts off prematurely without reaching the set temperature AND the upper thermostat transfers power before the set temperature is reached The thermostats both need to be replaced. Please see (2). I am scalding with hot water Please note. If a defective thermostat turns on the corresponding heating element, it will not cool down You may also. You either have both thermostats set too high or one of them. 1. 2. 3. You never have to worry about hot water Please note. It is unable to heat the top of the tank because the upper thermostat is not working A thermostat or heating element never receives power from the lower thermostat You may also. There was a failure of the upper heating element You may also. It is set too low on both thermostats You may also. You need to take a look at your service entrance panel to see if the 220 volt circuit breaker has tripped. You may also. There is a loose wire in the circuit breaker You may also. Several loose / burned-looking things can be found Wires not connected to the thermostat or element You may also. This is the result of a thermostat reset button being pushed If you press the red reset button on the water heater or if you turn the Energy Cut Off / ECO on, it will cut off the electric power to the entire heater. 4 * . The temperature of the water changes wildly if the thermostat is defective or not functioning correctly*5. There is not enough hot water in the tank Please note. As a result, the upper tank heats properly, but the thermostat in that tank fails to then transfer power to the lower thermostat/element, and only the top of the tank is heated. You may also. There is no problem with the upper thermostat or upper heating element. However, the lower thermostat or lower heating element has You may also. This thermostat is set to a low temperature. The sixth one. A low amount of hot water can be recovered Please note. The thermostat is locked in such that power will be transferred to the lower element You may also. There was a problem with the lower heating element You may also. This thermostat is set to a low temperature. If you suspect a malfunction, press the red reset button on both thermostats to bring them back to their previous positions It is an interim A snap sound may indicate that you need to replace this thermostat if it doesn't stay inserted, or if it makes a snapping sound after it's been reset. Once the water has cooled and the thermostat has been set properly, turn off the breaker until the water is cooler and turn it back on when it drops to 120 degrees. Continue doing this for a few minutes while waiting for parts to come and replace the small pieces of insulation Other than the issues listed above, other than outright leaks, water heaters can have problems as well. If an ohm meter does not show continuity between the terminals of an unwired heating element, the component has failed. It is also possible to test an element with the heater's circuit breaker on without having to remove any wires. Measuring the power at a heating element can be done by using a volt meter. A reading of 220 should be visible when it is electrified It should get hotter in that area if there is 240 volts AC. A dead element can be determined by using an infrared thermometer. If the tank adjacent to the element does not warm up, the element is probably The thermostat and element cover of the heater needs to be removed in order to test them with a voltmeter. You should be very careful so you don't receive an electric shock. As for the W10A thermostat I received, I gave it 5 stars because it worked well. In addition to the upper (WH9) thermostat, the lower (WH9) thermostat on our water heater was defective - it shut off at 110 degrees despite being set to the maximum In order to fix that, I also replaced the thermostat. As a general rule, these parts are relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to getting a new water heater or hiring a plumber, so in case one fails, you should consider replacing both. I'll say more. Please note - Hot wires are called legs on 240 Volt water heaters. There are two hot wires and a ground wire. Connect both legs together and each leg will produce 120 volts with a 240 volt potential. Please note - 240Volt circuits in thermostats can be switched off only one leg at a time. One leg puts live power on a heating element all the time, but it does not draw any power due to its only 12 Please note - If the circuit breaker is active, each element should be able to read 120V between the element and the grounded steel tank (or a ground wire). Please note - the thermostat is turned on, it connects the second leg to the element's first leg, so the element will heat up when the thermostat becomes active. Please note - Heating elements can crack or short in some cases. In many cases, a short will cause the electric panel circuit breaker to trip. Please note - In case the crack or short is far enough along in the element, there might not be enough resistance for the breaker to trip when it should. Please note - In the event that an element continues to heat, and will not turn off, you will likely have runaway heating which could cause the pressure/temperature relief valve to open and release water (or the ECO (energy cut-off) to turn on). Often the Water Reset (off) will trip, or the water may get.

The hot water heater is back to working properly
5/5

The hot water heater in my house had intermittent problems. Suddenly, the hot water would heat up to a scalding temperature and the heater's circuit breaker would trip. Since replacing the old thermostat with this one, my water heater is functioning properly once more. Rather than buying a new water heater, I was able to fix my current one. I think the price justifies trying it, even if you are not completely sure it would be a bad thermostat. You can save hundreds of dollars that way.

It was an easy decision to purchase the lower stat for an additional $8 (that's always a good idea)
5/5

My Kenmore hot water heater was a simple and quick repair that I had to do alone, and I probably saved myself more than a few hundred dollars. They demanded $37 for the same replacement part that they were using in place of the original. There was EXACTLY one replacement for the failed thermostat on the UPPER side. It was an easy decision to purchase the lower stat for an additional $8 (that's always a good idea). first, I was hesitant to tackle this on my own, but it turned out to be so rewarding. It will cost me about $25 and a half hour of my time, so hopefully I will still get a few years of hot water from this old beast. Thanks, Amazon!.

It is easy to install and works fine
5/5

The effect is as if it were a magic trick. It was estimated that the plumber would charge $275 for this work. A video on YouTube seemed very easy, so I searched for one. My hands are not handy at all because I am a female I decided to replace it, but first I repaired the damage. This was an easy process, I assure you. Rather than replacing just one thermostat, I have replaced the top and bottom. As if by magic, my water heater now works. $400-$500 are what I would like to pay for both replacements It cost me $20 to buy them both. It's just unfair and crazy how such a big difference can exist. To replace them, it takes about 10 minutes.

The quality of the product is poor There was no function for the unit
3/5

There was a great delay between when my order was shipped and when it arrived. The item was obviously a return part because the packaging was ripped open on the side and the unit was dirty. The part apparently had been installed sometime before I purchased it. I tried this and it didn't work. I went to a Home Furnishings Center nearby and found one that would give me a discount. It would be best not to order from these folks at all if you can possibly find it at ANY other place. I am going to eat this item as it would be more trouble than it’s worth to get my $15 back if I returned it. We learned a lesson from this. Gatzies is not a good place to buy from. This is a Zero Star review.

The part in the picture is not included! I would rather not use this cheap, Chinese piece of crap, as it does not have the same temperature scale as shown in the By using this part, I won't have to worry about burning my house down

I am satisfied with my progress so far
5/5

It is an easy As a result, the plumber wanted $45 for the same part plus $120 just to come out. We changed it out in less than 20 minutes after looking it up on YouTube. In addition, I bought a lower thermostat for $9 instead of having to repair it. You should do it yourself if you want to save money.

You can fit OEM parts on our Bradford-White, but do your research and be cautious when purchasing "universal" parts
5/5

In spite of the fact that it is supposed to be universal, the thermostat set we first purchased to replace original ones in our eight-year-old water heater proved anything but The water heater we have is a Bradford White M265R6DS2, and the thermostats available at the home improvement store cannot be installed without cutting into it. I did some investigating online and the Reliance top and bottom thermostats arrived quickly, they fitted perfectly as though they were original equipment, the 21 year-old installed them himself. While we may only have needed to replace the lower thermostat, replacing both at once seemed reasonable.

The internet is a great resource for DIY as there are online tutorials for just about any repair one can envision, and thermostat replacement is a safe and.
