For applications where you need a way to cover up old mounting holes from previous units, especially in older homes that may have been replaced with a number of units, this is the perfect option. The Honeywell RTH9580WF WiFi thermostat is the perfect equipment to use with this product. The kit includes two sizes you should be able to find the right one. Since the RTF9580 has a small footprint, I am surprised that no wallplate is included with the thermostat, considering the premium price tag. Plastic plates are neutral beige in color, and they are completely seamless. Any decor should work with this. There is nothing on this part in the instructions for the thermostat It was only after an email inquiry to Honeywell that I learned about it.

This wallplate fits my RTH9585WF perfectly. As an added bonus, I could reuse the holes and anchors from the Honeywell I had previously used. In my opinion, the white color is a bit too white because my wall is more of a beige color, so now I have three colors. I had previously purchased a beige wallplate, which matched my previous thermostat perfectly. It functions very well, and the 90 degree corners that fit snugly behind the thermostat help the part to stay in place when installed. The smaller of the two wallplates that were included in this order was used.

It is unclear from the manual why these cover plates were not included with the thermostat. Maybe they are just another way of generating revenue from a purchase that would otherwise be made only once.

Since about ten years now, I have had a honeywell programmable thermostat at home. My old mercury White-Rodgers thermostat was replaced by this unit, which proved to be useful. This Honeywell thermostat was bigger than the old one, but it was still pretty big. I received a Honeywell Smart thermostat (RTH9585WF1004) as a gift from Santa a decade later. As soon as I opened the box, I was shocked to see how small it was. This seemed to be a bigger place in the pictures. When I began mounting the thermostat, I became annoyed by the mismatched paint and other old mounting holes. In the course of my Google search to learn what my options were, I came across people talking about coverplates. The link I found on Amazon came from a quick search. Although it did not mention my thermostat model, it looked to be the right size, but thanks to the other reviews, I felt more comfortable ordering this one. It would be nice to have the grey version, but I cannot find it. While I see nothing wrong with white, I felt that grey would have looked better instead. There are however two sizes included in the package. I found that the small plate was big enough to cover the old paint and mounting holes, but I think that the other larger plate would cover most situations except for the most extreme. Nonetheless, the cover is very nice. It would be a good idea to order this along with your smart thermostat if you're uncertain about what lies under your old There's nothing difficult about it, but it's more work than necessary. You can just include the plate with your new thermostat when you install it the first time. Even if it's not necessary, it looks nice. What makes it not included in the thermostat box is unknown to me. Come on Honeywell, put them in every box you sell for your smart thermostats if your T series thermostats come with coverplates. Ignore the anchors in my photo, please. The pieces of a locking thermostat cover that was installed with the old mercury thermostat can be seen there. There is nothing that would cover them because the cover is so large. While there were still some paint imperfections, the coverplate perfectly covered them. Despite the remaining anchors showing, the whole thing looks cleaner with the coverplate in place.

In case I need it in the future, I have this along with the Honeywell 9000 thermostat. This Honeywell stat was used to replace the older and larger Lennox iComfort 10F81 stat that Originally, I used the cover plate (which was about the same size as the iComfort stat), but it looked like an oversized picture frame to me. Recently, I painted my wall - even behind the old stat - and so I decided to install the new stat without the extra large plate and I liked it a lot better in It would prove effective and convenient to cover it if there had been any wall damage or another paint color underneath, but if it had not been that way, it would be less effective.

In spite of the slight damage that can still be seen, I chose the smaller one because I think the smaller plate looks more streamlined.

There was no need to mount this This mounting plate is required for the Honeywell 9000 wifi thermostat, so I ordered it based on the listing. After receiving the 9000 wifi, I was able to mount it on the wall without any issues, so I was also able to return this item without having any hassle or trouble. Thanks a lot!.

The new thermostat was easy to install and looks great on the wall. The perfect finish to any defects that might have been left behind by the old unit, the fact that they provide two sizes means any customer can select the one that is most convenient. The book is highly recommended.
