The sensor had to be replaced because it wasn't installed correctly, and I didn't have access from below, so I had to grind out the grout between the floor tiles to install the sensor. It is because the housing of the sensor is much thicker than the typical tile spacing that causes the problem. Fitting the wire was fine, but the end was not. As long as the extra plastic is removed, the sensor is still protected and the extra plastic can be cut off. It was covered by new grout after it was able to slip between tiles.
The sensor is being used as a "backup" in an installation using warm wire. It is a duplicate of the sensor wire that received power from warm wire and is positioned in the floor in the event of sensor failure. Insurance at a low price.
