Questions & Answers

Is this a honewell product rather than a generic part?

It was advertised as a genuine Honeywell part, but when I got it, I realized it was a knockoff. Something wasn't right about the price, and I should've known it. The cost was less than everyone else's. I used it because I was in desperate need of it. It has performed admirably. I was, and continue to be, irritated that they claimed it was a genuine Honeywell. When I opened it, I could tell it was an aftermarket part because the flame sensor looked nothing like the Honeywell's. The Honeywell part number isn't on the package, and there's no mention of Honeywell anywhere. I know the Honeywell version's packaging says Honeywell with their part number on it because I've bought it twice before. The only thing I can say in its favor is that it has always worked. I despise being duped, and I believe Amazon should investigate the situation.

Is a 70L55 igniter the same as this?

I'm sorry, but I'm unable to assist you. However, it is well known that this part can be used to replace the Skymark furnace. br>br>I purchased those parts specifically for my technician to perform a repair for my company. br> Thank you for your inquiry.

Will this be a replacement for Q3400A1008?

I believe it will, with the exception of the connection plug, which can be rewired.

Is this a 24 volt ac part? I've got 24 volts at the pins, but the igniter never gets hot?

If it doesn't heat up, there's a problem. I had a faulty air flow sensor that caused the ignition to be turned off. Check to see if your exhaust fan is working as well. If you don't blow, the ignition will be turned off as well.

It's a good idea for everyone to have a backup! Furnaces and water heaters have a habit of breaking down at inconvenient times
5/5

br>While electronic ignition furnaces are more efficient, they also have a lot more potential for failure. The igniter flame rod is one of the most difficult parts to work with. Because it sits in the flame and generates a small voltage difference to the flame sense electronics, it's prone to collecting soot and other contaminants on the rod, lowering its conductivity. When this happens, the flame rod can't tell the main burners are on because the furnace is calling for heat, so it shuts off the gas valve as a precaution and gets stuck in loop. Replacing the flame rod is a simple do-it-yourself project that every high-efficiency furnace owner should keep on hand as a backup or have changed on a regular basis. This replacement rod is a significant financial commitment. A single service call will set you back far more than the cost of this common replacement part.

The Pan Pam conundrum
5/5

It's possible that the reviews claiming it wasn't a genuine Honeywell product were correct, but those reviews appear to be from more than seven years ago. This is still valid as of November 2020. br>br>I haven't had a chance to install it yet today, but I expect it to fix a problem with the furnace cycling during the system check. The pilot light turns on and ignites for 30 seconds before turning off, most likely because the flame sensor failed to detect the pilot light. Furnace: br>br> N9MP1050b12A3 is a gene that encodes for a protein called N9MP10.

It's a LOT less expensive than hiring a repairman
5/5

My Honeywell igniter has a direct fit. My furnace broke down on Saturday, December 1st. 30, 2017. I found a troubleshooting sequence in the manual on the internet. I went through the sequence, checking voltages and other things, and concluded that the igniter was defective. I turned on my fireplace to keep the house warm because it was Saturday night and a holiday weekend. I called a bunch of HVAC companies on Monday morning (1/1/2018) to see if they had this part on hand. Only one of the six numbers I dialed returned my call and informed me that they do not sell parts. I purchased this from Amazon and paid an additional fee for overnight delivery. It arrived on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018. The furnace was up and running again after about a 5-minute installation! It's a LOT less expensive than hiring a repairman, especially on a holiday!.

BEWARE! ITEM IS DANGEROUS! Beware! This is a dangerous item

I installed this as a direct replacement for my water heater, and it went well. I was surprised that it didn't come with a heat shield, so I removed one from the old part and placed it over the wires. After 2 minutes, the gas valve on the water heater clicked, and I smelled a plasticy odor (burning wire insulation). I'm glad the gas valve disconnected the propane flow. br>When I remove the heat shield that was placed over these wires, I see melted together wires that are causing a shortage on my board, so this will also need to be replaced. br>The last image I included is of old wires, how they appear, and how they are heat rated (part that is sitting directly in front of the flame). I didn't include a picture of the heat shield sleeve that covers all of these wires. There is no heat protection on this section! So, what are your thoughts on the matter?.

While supplies last, this is a very hot item

Honeywell isn't the manufacturer of this product. It is, however, a substitute for the Honeywell igniter that I required. (The package says "Universal Smart-lite igniter kit" and shows the ones it will replace) This one is made of silicon nitride, which has incredible strength and should outlast the OEM part. (Silicon nitride is so strong and heat resistant that NASA uses it exclusively for bearings in the space shuttle main engine liquid oxygen pumps. ) ) And, unlike the OEM part, which is sensitive to "oily hands" and can cause it to burn up, this one is unaffected by oily hands or even detergents. (I still wouldn't recommend it. ) Plus, unlike the OEM part, it won't oxidize. I installed it, and the furnace has been working perfectly since then. br>br>(UPDATED SUBSEQUENTLY: br>br> So much for it being a long-lasting product. If this is made of silicon nitride, the OEM part had to be made of something far more durable. This generic part lasted one year instead of the OEM part's ten years. So I bought another one, thinking it might have been a dud, but it only lasted a year. As a result, I'm not sure I'd recommend this section at this time.

I am the only person I can rely on
5/5

I paid a guy $500 to fix my heater a while back, and he said he replaced the module. I believed what he said. Years later, my heater refused to turn on once more. I figured I'd take a chance and start with this part, but upon closer inspection, now that I'd gotten my hands dirty, it was clear that this was the part he replaced, not the more expensive module. This was the most affordable option I could find on the internet. Quality product at a reasonable (relatively) price, easy to install (once you figure out how to remove the curvy gas line puzzle), and I'm confident I wasn't duped. It is possible for you to succeed.

Customer service is exceptional
5/5

The product performed as expected and was reasonably priced when compared to other shopping options, at least once I received the package. Unfortunately, the first igniter assembly sent by the vendor was mangled and misplaced for a while at the local Postal sorting and distribution center, which is only seven miles from my local Post Office. I waited a week and contacted the vendor via email, and they promptly sent me a replacement, which I received the next day. Ironically, the replacement order arrived on the same day as the original (with the'sorry your package was damaged in handling' endorsement). When I asked for shipping labels to return the original igniter assembly, the vendor simply asked that I mark it as "refused" and send it back. The igniter worked flawlessly once it was installed. If you look into these, you'll agree with me that I'm glad I didn't have to buy a so-called "good" one. The next purchase would have been a'smart gas valve,' which would have been much more expensive; however, the vendor's prices were still reasonable compared to others out there, and I would have done business with them again. When it came to the delivery snafu, I went with the standard, cheapest option, and as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
