I would call them even if I had no idea who they were. When it comes to damaged returns, Amazon is really good.
The reason for not doing so is not apparent to me. The cardboard frame of these filters, as with most others, needs to be taped.

There are many people who don't understand what the MERV rating on air filters means. As the name suggests, MERV rating, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, is a measurement used to accurately determine how well your home cleans the air. Thus, the air coming out of an HVAC system is cleaner than the air going into it. We use the air from inside the building more than we use outside, whether it's in a house or an office. Air from the outside may be taken in, but most of the air we use comes from inside. So when you get the flu in the office or house, that probably means the air filters in the building are out of date. It is important to change the filter every three months (or less) once the effectiveness of the filter is compromised. If you do not change the filter, then all the bacteria will pass through it You need to breathe deeply. Getting sick on an airplane is much worse. A MERV 8 is exactly what we need for home use. If you have severe allergies, you should buy a filter with a high efficiency rating. You will be less likely to get sick with them, but they will cost more.

If you put these in backwards and they fell apart and got sucked into your unit, it's just because you put them in backwards. I do not want you to leave a negative review for not being able to follow the directions on how to blow the air.
After receiving my filters, I found them still inside the plastic packaging, but covered in chunks of paper left over from manufacturing. When I install them, they will blow into my heater, so the lint or whatever they are will be on the outflow side. The customer service number listed on the filter gets a message only. I called the number listed on the filter and they told me to call another number. A refund will be issued if the item is returned.
Keep your money in your pocket. My nose started smelling burnt after I'd been in for a day. the AC and the filter was starting to fall apart.
