What is the purpose of this furnace control board? It's the outdoor heat pump's defrost control board. ?

The heat pump furnace board may also be referred to as a heat exchanger board. In our home, this exact board was installed and the central air system worked, only we had issues with the air conditioner, not with the heating system

My unit is reversed when it comes to defrosting

This has been installed on my system for about two years now with only one obvious issue, and it was able to be solved fairly easily. When this board checks the defrost mode it checks the outside temperature sensor and if it is in the "open" position, it will go into defrost mode. On my unit, the outside temperature sensor worked in the opposite direction from what was programmed on the card. As soon as it is time for a defrost, my sensor moves into the "closed" position (I could be set up completely wrong, it has been awhile since I have taken it apart). Using the wire cutter tool, I cut the wires to the sensor and connected it to a jumper, so that the circuit now goes into defrost every 90 minutes whether or not it is needed. It is vital for the summer months that this is reversed, otherwise the unit won't function correctly. It has been on my mind to purchase a sensor for use with this board, but I'm unable to find one. Well, you probably know how things end up. You shouldn't worry about it if it isn't broken!.

In my case, it had spade clips, as I purchased the wrong one when I bought it the first time. It was exchanged without any issues.

Exactly the same as original at a fraction of the cost

I couldn't have chosen a better match for my carrier. Now that my air conditioner is working again, I'm happy. The old circuit board was burned up, so I had to deal with this issue. I also switched contractors, but keep in mind that was a bad move. It was the same time they were both out.

It works fine. The product was exactly as described, and after I installed it to replace the burned board and I swapped the contact while I was in, it worked like a charm! We were very pleased with the part. It was identical to the original. All markings and such are the same.
